The whole thing with Dong Wook and Ji Hyun makes me so sad.

I mean, look:

Trust me to like a ship when it gets screwed up.

OMG. If I am reading it correctly, DW does find out JH was raped? OMGOMGOMG.

And he is desperate to see her and he doesn't care (in the sense of still loving her) but she feels too sullied to even look at him.

OMG.

Also, WTF! DW and DC's mother is horrid. She is all 'go marry your rapist, JH, and leave my kid alone.' Hate. I would totally understand if she asked her to stop bugging them because she brings her son trouble but this? Unforgivable. No wonder JH starts hating her.

Also, Priest, WTF? Fine, tell her not to have an abortion, you are Catholic. But doing the whole 'it's best for unborn baby if you marry rapist' is...WHAAAT? How is it best? How? "Mommy, how did I come to be." "Well, one day your Daddy got me out of the torture chamber and raped me." Yeah. Great.

UGH. DIE.

To make self feel better, here are pics of the leads of East of Eden in RL.

(The ages are actors' ages, not the characters')

Lee Dong Chul is played by Sang Seung Heon. Age 31. He is sort of scarily hot.

Lee Dong Wook is played by Yun Jung Hoon. Age 29. He is also married to Han Ga In, whom I adore. So the pics are of the two of them together.

Shin Myung Hun is played by Park Hae Jin. Age 25.

Lee Da Hae plays Min Hye Rin. Age 24

Gook Grace is played by Lee Yeon Hee. Age 20 (whoa, that young? She looks older!)

Kim Ji Hyun is played by Han Ji Hye. Age 24.

I think it makes perfect sense to ship things only after they get screwed up!

(Then again, this is from someone who's 2 big comic book ships of the moment didn't become ships until half of one died and the other broke up, then she was possessed by an alien entity and started hunting him across the galaxy. And I didn't ship Syaoran/Sakura in Tsubasa until he was revealed to be a clone and lost his soul. So maybe I am a very bad example of approval.)

(Thanks for the spoiler cut.)

You are welcome :)

I like angst in my stories and ships so I guess that would explain the tendency to get involved only when things get screwed up. Because with this couple, they were cute and sweet and normal and I was all "OK, that's nice, whatever" but now I am all...GUUUUUUH.

It depends on the kind of angst. When it's angst because angst makes everything better, I get bored and/or annoyed. But when it's serious, messed up, severe angst? That's a little bit different. I like my ships either straightforward, or genuinely complicated with hardships and complications that don't make me go "yes, you have it hard, now shut up."

Lee Da Hae is so skinny it's almost scary o.o especially in the second pic, if you look at her waist. *shivers* (still love her madly though)

That episode didn't sit well with me. The conversation with the priest annoyed me and then the mother thing. We knew she was terminally hard-headed and unbearable, but she managed to crank it up a notch with her convo with Ji Hyun. I cannot believe she told her to marry him... and now she's going to. When is she going to grow a spine. I know she's probably deluding herself into thinking this is for Dong Wook's sake, but unless she is going to do a complete 180 and spend the rest of her life making MH utterly miserable... I can't condone it. lol

And you're not the only one who couldn't care less about Lee Da Hae's character.

The Priest thing made sense to me. I don't agree with it, but he is a priest after all.

I admit to liking Ji Hyun. She doesn't have a choice, does she? She is in a very conservative society and she has clearly been brought up very traditionally, so she views herself as ruined and unfit for a good man like DW. Not to mention she is suffering some horrible trauma (she probably has PTSD. She was tortured for days, and on top of it, raped) without any counselling or support. So she is not being very rational.

A pity about the army and his bitch of a Mom. I bet if it wasn't for this, DW would get through to her, and he strikes me as the kind of man who would raise her child and treat it well even if it wasn't his. He really really loves her.

Re: LDH. I just find her very bratty and kinda boring. LDH plays her well, it's the character itself. She is pretty unlikeable. And not in a fun way. I know LDH is capable of being a total darling, so hopefully it's just the director/writers and they are going to change her character gradually. because for now, when she is on screen I half read the subs and haf do something else.

I want MH to be miserable for the rest of his days. I cannot wait for him to find out about his parentage.
