Beat that, Gossip Girl! :P
Sep. 29th, 2008 10:50 amYou know, watching East of Eden reminds me yet again that kdrama fathers are truly, truly special men.
Take Tae Hwan, the father of one of our main characters, Myung Hun. MH has just started university and Dear Dad is worried his only child is a bit too fixated on the station-master's daughter he is in love with.
Cue them going to Macao and Daddy paying some floozy to get his kid really really drunk (so drunk that when he is in the hotel room, he is asking where he is) and relieve the kid of his virginity. The guy wakes up next morning with no memory of what happened and absolutely freaks discovering the naked woman next to him and the fact that he is wearing no clothes himself. He sort of remembers the woman doing things and him being completely out of it and as if on cue the phone rings and it's his Dad, asking him if he slept well. When MH is all 'why did you do this?' Dad replies that it's time for him to get over the notion of being with only one woman his whole life and congrats on finally being a man.
Cue MH running to the shower to hyperventilate and scrub his skin off.
Ha! Beat that, Gossip Girl!
(I really don't like MH: he is an arrogrant, obsessive jerk, and getting worse by the day but nobody deserves it. Plus, he was kinda a sweet kid before growing up with Mr. Sociopath turned him into Jerk Jr. of today. Ahhhh, kdrama parents!)

Since you're the only person I know watching this I meant to ask... whatever happened to the dude Dong Chul went to Macau with? I remember him getting kidnapped, but I don't remember anything else.

It's ironic, the nurse wanted vengeance but if you think about it, her nemesis' kid, despite the hardships, grew up in a good family and with the best sibling ever, and is a human being. And the kid of the union leader, a guy who never did her any harm, grew into this twisted mess. Not to mention that if he grew up in DC's family, he would be the one JH would love. Ahhh, irony.

I thought it wasn't Janice but the other woman, the one DC mistook for her at first in the airport...

I don't think we know (I am halfway through ep 8 and read spoilers through 11). Hopefully he surfaces again. The scene with DC losing him was so heartbreaking. I must say, much as I enjoy everybody's acting (with the exception of Dennis 'she's my queen' Oh), Kim Bum was my favorite. I think the kid needs to get a drama all of his own.

I didn't think we knew what happened to the Captn because it jumped, but now he has this adopted family in Macau. I'm sure we'll hear more about it.
I agree... great performances from everyone so far with the exception of Dennis Oh, No!

Date: 2008-09-29 11:21 pm (UTC)ROFL, best nickname ever! Seriously, if they wanted a good-looking half-Korean, why didn't they cast Daniel Henney? I don't think Henney is a genius, but at least he's OK.
Part of the reason I think I can last 50 episodes is to see the fallout when they find out about the baby-switch-a-roo.
Oh, I cannot wait. I want SHT to find out that his 'son' isn't his and for Mh to find out that he is actually from the family he is being so horrid to. Yay!

Date: 2008-09-30 01:34 pm (UTC)He lucked out with WYH because it was fluffy and didn't require much acting from anyone. But in EoE, surrounded by good actors and in a story that forces them to act, he really sticks out.
