The Devil (Mawang) picspam: eps 17-18

I haven't done this for a couple of months, but here are some screencaps from my favorite scenes from eps 17-18 of The Devil (Mawang. Yes, the original on which Maou is based).
It's such an impossibly gorgeous, heart-breaking, nuanced drama.
I love this confrontation in ep 17 between Seung Ha and Oh Soo, where the shields and masks are off, even if not in so many words, and Seung Ha's cold rage and loss and Oh Soo's vulnerability and guilt...

He is so beautiful, it's unreal. I think he just might be the most gorgeous Korean actor I've ever seen...

The aftermarth of the confrontation. It's bad for Seung Ha, for whom his composure is only a mask and it's cracking so badly, especially since he can't help but believe Oh Soo, and what does it make him?

I love how he is so often shown 'caged' because he so is...

That scene made me feel so horrible for Oh Soo! Because he is such a good man, who feels it's all his fault.

Yup, caged.

I love how good Hae In is with Oh Soo. If I wasn't such a rabid Seung Ha/Hae In shipper, I could ship the two of them...

But it's this scene that made me die. Die, die, die, die, DIE. When I first saw it, I literally shrieked! It's the most physical contact with her he allows himself (except for one moment in 18) and I just die...

And he pulls back OMG...

She found out the truth and I love her reaction so much: to take him out for one lovely, perfect day, something he hadn't had since childhood (and how fitting that he remembers that day when he is dying...)

Yessss! She takes his hand...

And now he is the one who takes her hand...

Awwww. This drama is, in some ways, about scarcity and importance of the human touch.

He is usually in shadows or trapped but they are often in such clean light when they are together...

Adorableness:

More awesomeness:

And he walks her home...(I just realized something. Except for flashbacks, the only time he is relaxed is with her).

This scene killed me so much. He has so much to live for but he can't see it because he us trapped. I don't lose it until he starts sobbing outside though.

I love Mawang. With the possible exception of The Legend, it's my favorite drama, period.

Gotta say I agree, he is lovely. But the 'rabid' UTW fangirl in me fancies 'the other guy' more. XD

Resurrection is great, not as good as Mawang but comes pretty close. They more or less corrected in Mawang all the stuff that didn't quite work in Resurrection yet. But UTW is sooooo darned wonderful in it! He's practically playing three different characters and they are all totally recognizeable and beleavable. Don't know how he does it.
