Special A is an anime based on a manga of the same name. It's fun, it's romantic, and it's cute. Sort of like a poor man's Ouran. And considering how much I adore Ouran, that is not a bad thing.
The story revolves around our heroine, Hanazono Hikari. Hikari is athletic, smart, and a high schooler. She also has an overwhelming goal in life: once, just once, to be better than Takishima Kei, at something. Kei has been a thorn in Hikari's side since they were kids. When they were both six, their fathers pitted them in a wrestling match against each other, and undefeated Hikari lost to the little boy she never met before. Ever since then, since elementary school, which they attended together, just as they did every school since, Hikari has sworn to beat Kei but with no luck. Currently attending a prestigious and snooty high school, her high grades have placed her in "Special A," a class reserved for top 7 ranked students in the entire school. Hikari is ranked number 2. And ranked number 1 is her nemesis, Takishima Kei. Hikari eats, sleeps and lives the hope of defeating him, even as they manage to remain friends. But despite her brains and her talents for anything (as long as it's not domestic), Hikari has failed to observe something that everyone else has figured out ages ago: the stoic, reserved Kei is in love with her and has been in love with her for years.
Anyway, it's totally adorable. The heroine is hilarious and smart and cute. Kei is kinda awesome and my real-life type, and the secondaries are priceless. It's a pretty funny, fluffy, tongue-in-cheek anime and it's delicious. Will it go on the list of my all-time faves? Probably not. But it's good fun to watch anyway.
Here is a cute shippy MV:
In other news, I picked up the very first Full Metal Panic novel and had a total LOL moment because Sousuke gets asked at his class intro what his favorite music groups are and he has no idea because he doesn't listen to music so he remembers some CD of Mao's and says "SMAP." I loled so hard. The thought of Sagara Sousuke and SMAP existing in the same universe blows my brain.
And last but not least...I found this anime/drama blogger who is fun and articulate but her taste is literally 100% polar opposite to mine. Which is sad as reading the blog promised to be fun otherwise, but not if I disagree with every word :(

It's just that the bit I've read showed him seeming to be better in everything. But like I said it the first comment, it's my initial impression. It can easily change.
