Babbling...
Aug. 8th, 2008 09:42 amYes, I did do a whole writeup on finishing Acheron here, but I have a few more scattered thoughts:
* I wonder if all/any of the stuff she described in Part I (you know which) is based in reality and if so, how did she research it. That's got to be the creepiest Google search ever. Or did it all come out of her imagination? In which case, I'd be terrified to meet Kenyon in a dark alley.
* The more I think about it, the more I think the heroine is totally appropriate for Ash. She has this quality of being incredibly forward-thinking. By that I mean she does not dwell in the past at all, which is something he totally needs. He doesn't need somebody to be all 'poor thing, I am going to heal you' because that would remind him he is broken plus I think he'd pay a huge amount of money to not remember his past anyway. But Tory's attitude is basically perfect: she knows of his past but her thought process is not about that at all, except for thinking he is super-awesome for overcoming it and it's basically 'you had an awful past but it doesn't matter a bit and you are super-awesome now and I am all about the now.' Which is totally what he needs. He needs somebody to think he is awesome, even knowing stuff about him, not think he needs fixing. Actually I think Tory's forward-thinkiness is what enables her to cope so well with all the crazy situations: from almost dying to finding out how old Ash is. Her attitude is basically "OK, x happened already, nothing we can do about it, how do we proceed?"
* I think, other than Ash, Ryssa is my fave character. She was totally awesome. They should have run away from home when they were kids and got a hut in the woods together :) The book would be way shorter but give me less nightmares...
* I think Ash would be safe from me being grabby: he is too freaking tall! I love him as a character, but I wouldn't want to hook up with someone who is almost two feet taller than me any more than I'd want to make out with a 3' midget...
Not related to any of the above. I continued with Buffy rewatch and finished 'Phases' (SQUEE) and 'Bewitched Bothered and Bewildered' (Heeee). Pics and thoughts coming. But for now, I found this awesome Buffy/Angel MV:
