My glorious Buffy rewatch...

So, I spent last evening eating ice-cream and sandwiches and watching s2 of Buffy.

Specifically 'School Hard'(2.3) and 'Inca Mummy Girl' (2.4)



SCHOOL HARD:

This is one of my fave eps from S2.

EEEE! First appearance of Spike. Who also doesn't sparkle, SMeyer. I hope you take note.

And Dru. Oh, how I used to love Spike/Dru. Srt of like a twisted/insane mirror to Buffy/Angel. Spike might be soulless and evil and delight in torture and murder but he worships the ground Dru walks on.

They are so funny, so off-kilter, so mocking. Much more fun than the Annoying One (heeee).

Though with all my Spike love, I have to say James Marsters' English accent is not really spot on yet. Not as bad as Angel's Irish accent but that's in a class of its own.

Other things: I love Joyce in this one. She wasn't a bad parent, generally.

Also love Angel snarking at Xander. While Angel was never the life of the party, before he had his little Angelus-again stint and reverted to 'I am going to dig my self-loathing pit and engage in my favorite passtime of blaming self for things not in my control' he could be sarcastic or cranky at Buffy or whatever. But I suppose since all these are signs of self-esteem...

Buffy so rocks in this ep. LOVE.





INCA MUMMY GIRL

Not an ep to remember and with plot logic holes a mile wide (yes, I am commenting on plot logic in a story about the undead) but OMG first appearance of OZZZZZZZZZ!

*squeals like a fangirl*

Much as I adore the vamps and all, Oz is the only male in the whole run of the show I'd want to date myself.



The eps coming after these are some of my faves. Oh, and just realized. BtVS S2 dvds were the first ones I ever bought...

I think I hated Spuffy more for that reason than any other reason. Spike and Dru were my OTP of Buffy. Both of them on their own was a bit too much 'wacky character' for me but together they balanced each other out.

Also love Angel snarking at Xander.

What amuses me about that is that I think beneath Buffy issues between them, they really did just simply rub each other the wrong way.

On the other hand, OMGOMGOMG. Seth Green/Oz was SEEEEEEERIOUSLY my first celebrity crush. Like, seriously, I loved him so much. ._. And I don't know about you, but I also loved him with Willow. Tara/Willow is cool, Willow/Kennedy sucked (imo), but I was always and will always be an Oz/Willow fan. I think my favorite episode was Halloween, where he first noticed her.

Ozzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! In my canon, after S7 ended, Willow ditched the awful Kennedy and ran into Oz again and they hooked up and lived happily ever after.

Ah! Spike/Dru was just great. I loathed Spuffy, but I simply adored the twisty and yet sweetness that was S/D. They were so my first Buffy/Angelverse OTP.



Angel and Xander interaction was always a plus during the first three seasons of the show. I loved whenever Angel got snarky with someone, because. . . it made him seem human.



And Oz! I loved Oz! He was just this little quirky man who was beyond cool. I remember being so upset when the writers had Willow cheat with Xander. Because while Xander was sweet and dorky. . . Oz was Oz.



I loved the high school years of Buffy; before Buffy (the character) started pissing me off and before the plots started pissing me off. I have to ask: did you watch Angel? I find that I enjoyed the first two seasons, but felt it started going down hill after that; especially when the gang with to Wolfram and Hart.

Not really. I saw the crossovers with BtVS, of course, but I think I was scared away from the show in general because the first time I really attempted to watch it was during the Connor-Cordelia thing, and that was enough to scare anyone off for life.

School Hard! That is one of the best episodes of Buffy! Goad, Spike/Dru were so awesome. Gah, I hate that they killed that and brought in Spuffy (not a fan).

ZOMG OZ! Possibly my favourite male character in the Buffyverse. He was just so cute and awesome. The Willow kissage line!!!

The lack of sparkling vampires is very nice.

I am totally imagining (as I said upthread) that after s7 is over, Willow runs into Oz again (after ditching Kennedy who got on my last nerve) and they hook up again and have cute half-werewolf babies :)

Oh man I would totally do that to if I hadn't been reading the comics.
I seriously never got Willow/Kennedy. Kennedy was an awful character and the two actors had no chemistry at all. Gah, just hate her!

I simply adored him! Still do;)
I refuse to read the comics...(honestly it would have been better if they had ended BTVS after season 5 or something. Before the plots went way out of hand)and I don't consider them cannon so; Willow-ditches Kennedy-finds Oz-lives happily ever after = The End:D
But I have to admit that I do like Buffy/Spike...not thanks to s.6 and 7 tough...

I am not big on comics anyway (I only like Fables, as far as comics go, the art usually is not my thing) but yes, staying away and creating my own happy denial-reality :)
