Batmanish...

This article, which ranks Batmans from least fave to most (and has subcategories of reasons) is not only awesome, but a total hoot.
My favorite bit is under category 'Homoerotic Context', for Bale's Batman:
Only in the sense that we spent this movie wondering if BatBale liked us. You know, as more than friends.
ROFL.
On a less hilarious note, one brief spoilery thought about The Dark Knight.
Joker is right (and I don't think it's even a controversial point, really): anyone can be broken, when the right stimuli are applied. It's just someone people will die before that occurs and some might be able to channel it into some sort of functionality.
So yes, the Joker could break Harvey Dent, but he could never break Batman because Bruce Wayne is already thoroughly broken and Batman is actually the manifestation of that brokenness, the outlet through which Bruce channels.
(Also, let's face it, he could have pushed harder and did some more really really sick-awful things and who knows what would have happened then. Batman did lose it spectacularly in the interrogation room).
Side note to anything: is it possible to be hotter than Christian Bale? I don't think so.

O'Donnell's an actor, in short, who makes one long for the playful, layered nuance of a Keanu Reeves performance. :D

Date: 2008-07-27 02:12 pm (UTC)And did you see a Vash/Legato parallel with Batman and the Joker? The Joker doesn't really want to destroy Batman, he wants to make him break that cardinal rule of killing someone. The scene where he's walking down the road begging Batman to hit him screamed of that. Nothing would give the Joker more pleasure than to be taken out by Batman, mainly because that would mean he's WON.

*snort*
is it possible to be hotter than Christian Bale?
No, it is simple not possible for anyone to be hotter than Bale as Bruce Wayne. It is just... a fact.

Date: 2008-07-27 05:05 pm (UTC)I have to admit that I didn't like the most recent Batman film (the only person in North America who didn't, probably), mainly because I thought most of the Joker's schemes appeared to rely on spectacular stupidity on everyone's else's part.
