I have a new love: Skip Beat, a manga about revenge through showbiz :D
Thank you,
crumpeteer and
meganbmoore. I read first volume and it's awesome.

Kyoko is the girl who's sacrificed everything in order for her selfish boyfriend Sho to make it in show biz, but as he gets famous, she finds out he was only using her.
So Kyoko? Does not weep, does not wail, but decides to get revenge by becoming more famous than him. She proceeds on her path being strong and hilarious and very far from typical fagile shoujo heroine. The girl's a bulldozer, and if I were Sho, I'd run far away. Her paths also cross with Ren, the seemingly extremely self-contained star who is the current number 1 'idol.' Who just might out-stubborn and out-manipulate Kyoko. Maybe. If they don't kill each other first.
It's funny, it's cute, and it's awesome.
It's also made to be a drama. Though I can't think of any Japanese actors/actresses I'd like to be in it, I can think of tons of Korean ones. Kyoko can pe played by Han Ji Hye (the lead in Sweet 18, who was adorable and terrifyingly driven/delinquent at the same time). As to Ren and Sho, kdramas aren't lacking in hot tall young men. :) I am biased in favor of Hyun Bin and Kim Jung Hoon, respectively, for my own reasons :)
And because I don't like posting without eye candy, here is the manga pic of Ren:

Date: 2007-06-18 09:45 pm (UTC)And I love Ren, the only male character in the series capable of standing up to Kyoko's crazy personality swings and actually able to keep her in line. He's just a nice guy and you realize more and more that he keeps pushing her away because she reminds him of his past which he's tried very hard to seperate himself from. He roots for her in his own way and manipulates her to do what is best for herself, but he keeps her at arms length because he won't let people get close to him.
