The person who is going to bring down the evil Lee family and feed Creepy to the worms! The revenge mastermind spinning an elaborate web!

Yes, it's a little old lady in traditional garb. And she is going to have Creepy's guts to put on her toast and Creepy's blood to stir in her tea! I love you, Gloria.

Also, Kang Suk and Dong Ah having been drinking together to drown their shippy sorrows, but I have an even better, more permanent solution for them. It would probably go something like this:

Dong Ah: There is no way Yoon Seo and I can be together, ever.
Kang Suk: And Jin Jin left me due to the crap with her sister and my psycho brother. What to do?
Kang Suk and Dong Ah (together): Let's hook up!
Dong Ah: You'll fit right in with my penchant for traumatized illegitimate rich kids from psycho families.
Kang Suk: And I clearly go for violent, mouthy slum dwellers, big time.
Dong Ah: and at least I won't have to crane my neck that far down to make out with you. I could so save on chiropractor bills!
Kang Suk: And this is the perfect "fuck you" to my family! They are going to weep tears of blood they busted up me and Jin Jin.
*commence make-out*

Well, a fangirl can dream :)

Kang Suk and Jin Jin might have had a painful break-up in ep 39, but at least they weren't sick and chased by murderous gangsters. There's always an upside!

If you remember from the last post, Yoon Seo broke up with Dong Ah to save his life and got engaged to Creepy - all as per his blackmail. And barring a few minor interruptions, like Dong Ah going back to being a thug or Creepy having him severely beaten for daring to speak to Yoon Seo for two minutes, all was peachy. Indeed. Until Yoon Seo found out Creepy murdered his previous wife, that is. When she went with her news to her father, he didn't care much - Creepy came from the right family and would be helpful in business. What's a "minor mistake" compared to that? Terrified and freaked out of her mind, Yoon Seo ran to Dong Ah (still recuperating in the hospital from his fun beating) and begged him to run away together. And off they went, untrailed by Creepy's goons due to Kang Suk's awesomeness.

And then this happened - from bliss to misery, otherwise known as these poor kids just can't catch a break )

I know I am behind on replies and promise to get to them asap.

(Partially) disregard my previous Gloria post because in ep 40, I got this!

She did ultimately pick him over her older sister! OMG.

Ultimately, I am with [livejournal.com profile] ockoala, I don't she loves Kang Suk as much as he loves her. Probably because he's never had another emotional outlet besides her. But she does love him a lot, and did put him first, and she proved it, so that makes me a happy Mousie.

And there was kneeling and begging and manly tears.

I'll beg. Look at me only. Don't think about your sister or my brother, just this once. Can you please just think of me once, please Jin Jin, I'm begging you. When I think about living without you by my side...I can't breathe. I feel like my heart is going to stop beating from frustration. )

Ugh, Jin Jin, you freaking moron, I want to smack some sense into you!

I loved you for 39 episodes for you to do this! You find out your older sis and Kang Suk's older bro used to knock boots and because of it bro's wife got killed and you dump Kang Suk over it?

What the fucking fuck! I mean, I could see her dumping him if she found out older bro arranged the accident that killed JJ's parents and made sis retarded for 20 years and turned JJ's life into hell, but she has no idea about any of this.

Nope, it's "Oh, I have to dump you because otherwise my sister will feel bad all her life seeing us together, especially if you go against your family and get kicked out - that way she will feel even worse." WTF, priorities! She adds she can't run away with him because her sis will be alone - her sis is a fully-functioning 40yr old with a job and friends, who supports her choice of husband!

UGH.

This is the most idiotic reason for breaking up ever.

She can't give up her sister (and I don't even see why she'd have to) but she can give up Kang Suk?

UGH.

The thing is, Kang Suk is one of those rare kdrama heroes who would be an awesome guy in rl - well-adjusted, caring, smart, stand by you to the death, just an awesome guy. He deserves better than to come second to the woman he loves and sort of get scraps of her affection. She comes first for him, shouldn't it be mutual? Hell, shouldn't he come first to someone in his life? Anyone? He doesn't to his parents or his sociopath brother, and now not even to the woman he loves? Talk about unfair.

Drama, you totally lost my passenger status on the Jin Jin train. I got off. Boo-hoo, go cry a little more, you made your choice. You know, thinking back, she has not sacrificed a single thing for KS or gave one up? KS did plenty for her, and YS/DA gave up a hell of a lot to be together, but I have yet to see JJ make a sacrifice for romantic love. Familial love and friend-love to be sure. For Kang Suk's sake? Hah.

I still like the drama because Dong Ah/Yoon Seo are amazing and wonderful and R&Jish, and Kang Suk is the coolest kdrama guy in a long time, plus awesome secondaries. Not to mention I want to see Creepy get it in the face, but as to Jin Jin - I am done. I am done with JJ/KS too, except for the fact that he still wants her and I want him to have what he wants. Even there, I'd rather he met and fell for someone else.

KS: Before I met you, I thought I would never love anyone and fight with father on that account. I thought I would never do any childish acts because of someone. That there would never be a reason for my heart to hurt because of someone. And that I would never think being born was a blessing, because of someone.
JJ: Because of me, you think that being born is a blessing?
KS: I thought to myself a lot, what would have happened if I was born and I never met you. I thought like that. Why was I born my mother's son...? Why did I always have to be the mere bastard child. And live under that title? I was angry. But now, I am thankful to my mother. That she gave birth to me out of wedlock.
JJ: Those words are enough. Even though there is no ring, those words tonight are enough.

Sure, Creepy is sociopathically evil. But he's also completely deranged. What kind of a person genuinely believes that the woman you blackmail into marriage with you and who loves another, will totally totally totally reciprocate your feelings soon, especially if you have the man she loves beaten almost to death for daring to speak to her. I mean - brilliant plan - take her on a date to the hospital to show her the guy unconscious in the icu and tell her that you wanted to have his achilles tendons slit but you held yourself back due to love you feel for her and not wanting to be a bad guy in her eyes.

???????

!!!!!!

I mean - if all he wanted was a hot wife with great family connections, and hang what she may think of him, it's an evil plan but at least I can comprehend it. But how on earth can he believe he is slowly making her fall for him? Awwwww, more men could get love only if they got their crushes' loved ones tortured to bits. Everyone knows the ladies swoon for that stuff.

Creepy really really freaks me out. If he did get Yoon Seo, is there any doubt he'd beat and rape her and make her life a living hell? Probably thinking all the while it's her fault for not loving him as she should.

Creepy is reminding me a bit of Secondary Guy in Delightful Girl Chunhyang who couldn't for the life of him understand why the heroine didn't want to be with him when all he did was frame her husband for rape in order to blackmail her into divorcing him and going with Secondary Guy.

Ahhh, insane bad men of kdrama.

(I love the almost manga-like compositions of shots here btw. Gloria doesn't have the most amazing cinematography a la Secret Garden, but in its quiet way, it's lovely).

I have resumed my watch of Gloria and it continues excellent as always. I will try to continue the recaps but they are really time-consuming and, let's face it, I want to spend my time watching more more more. So who knows how it's going to go.

So for now, I bring you my two favorite scenes in episode 35. One involves Kang Suk/Jin Jin and another Dong Ah/Yoon Seo.

You will suffer manyfold. You will be so tormented that you will probably regret having met me. But even so, you have to endure it. Even if you feel like you can't endure anymore. Jin Jin ah...Please endure it, for my sake. )

You know, normally I am not a fan of long dramas - the point inevitably gets lost, meandering kicks in. But when (rarely) done well, they really are a treat - Kang Suk's character development is one of my favorite things in this drama - it's slow, and painful, and complex (thawing always is) but it's gradual and believable. KS of ep 1 and KS of ep 35 are almost like two different people but it's a believable progress and you see every step of how one ended up into the other.

In the other part of Seul, one of the most awful kdrama break-ups is happening. Yoon Seo must break up with Dong Ah, the man who literally made her want to go on living after her suicide attempts, in order to save his life - she was told otherwise Creepy and her father will have him killed. Oh. They are such fragile innocents, this scene kills me.

I missed you so much I thought I would go insane. Since I can't even hear your voice through the phone. I thought I was gonna die. )

In conclusion - Die die, Creepy.

Watching Creepy terrorize poor fragile Yoon Seo in ep 35 of Gloria (yes, am catching up), I am filled with rage but also the thought that I sincerely hope he tries something like this on Jin Jin because she's going to castrate him with a rusty spoon if he does.

Oh, please please please, let him try to mess with her. This will be glorious. They would be picking out body parts out of the Han River for weeks.
