Liveblogging Hana Yori Dango episode 9

dangermousieSo finally. Hana Yori Dango. On the plus side, with the waiting, the subs are here. Yay!
ETA: I love the way Domyouji faces his Mom. He totally has no fear of her which isn't wise but brave and awesome. Plus, I am still spacing out over MatsuJun in his suit.
ETA: LOL at the F4 council of war. OMG, Domyouji is adorable, getting so dorkily excited over the mere remembering of holding of hands. It's just as well he didn't conceal stuff from Kaede because I don't think he is capable of concealment.
ETA: Love Tama with Makino and Makino telling her she has no regrets. Yay.
ETA: And once again, Rui is the voice of reason, pointing out to the freaking out Soujiro and Akira that Domyouji would have had to face Darth Kaede sooner or later.
ETA: I also lov how Makino basically admits to the Annoying Three she is Domyouji's gf and later I love the scene with her and Rui. I so much prefer their friends!vibe.
ETA: OMG. MatsuJun looks SO HOT all defiant. I really love it when he basically tells his mom to stuff it and start doing things about the corp and not his love life. And that Makino is the only woman for him and he'll make a new corp with her. I think what Kaede cannot stand worse of all is her utter lack of control or manipulability over Domyouji. She could never control him, but now that he is focused and mature and fighting for what he truly wants, he is unreachable and she hates that. But I love how grown-up (and yet very romantic) he is being here. And I repeat, I'd run and hide from Kaede glare, so I am so impressed he doesn't seem to be shaken in the least.
ETA: Domyouji's whole face lights up as he is driving in the car and sees Makino. *dies*
ETA: I love how he just acts entirely so much more comfortable and relaxed around her. It's the body language.
ETA: Oh, you poor boy. He still has illusions. Rough as he is, he still believes Kaede is somewhat human: "she is still my Mom, she'll come around eventually" might apply to everyone but not the bitch that is Kaede.
ETA: And there is some more language mangling. Heee. And he tells her he just wants to treasure the time he has with her. I love the matter of fact way he says awesome things, because to him they aren't compliments but just such a natural part of him as breathing or anything essential so he doesn't think much of it.
ETA: The bit with 'the light is green' and them runing across the crosswalk, holding hands, and grinning? *dies*
ETA: I think we've seen Domyouji smile more in the last two minutes than we did the entire season. Seriously, they are both glowing. You can see how much they missed each other by the difference when they are together.
ETA: Makino, I know the food is good (and I love the way Domyouji is drinking in her delight) but these kinds of moany noises are usually reserved for other kinds of activity :)

ETA: Hey, I gotta take all the glee I can get, considering rain scene is coming up. Yeah, yeah, writers. Make them blindingly happy so it would hurt extra later. *stocks up on tissues*
ETA: OMG! The hotpot conversation. Where he tells her he doesn't like that kind of food but he'll like it if it was just them and she says she'll invite him and he says no thanks and then quickly adds he is teasing and is all 'invite me' and it's just...How do I love Domyouji more every ep? Soon my love will be in the stratosphere and choke from the lack of oxygen that high up.
ETA: OMG BITCH! Kaede cancelled Domyouji's credit cards so they are declined in the restaurant and he is about to break that man's face when Makino bodily interposes herself and pays by cash. You know, being Domyouji's OTP is sort of like being an owner of a very hyper, but very loyal pit bull :D
ETA: And OMG, it's adorable. He is all 'I can't believe I made you pay for me' and is literally sinking on the ground in embarassment (he is so expressive, love it) and is all 'I could just die' HEEEE. So young.
ETA: And she starts laughing and is all 'Call me Master, Tsukasa-kun.' Shouldn't they keep that part of their relationship until later, and take it somewhere more private?
ETA: And then she crouches down next to him and tells him that with no money they will do the date her way :)
ETA: OMG, and she mirrors his 'the light is green' and they go running. So much happiness in Hanadan at one point? You know nothing good will come of it.
ETA: You know how I mentioned that Makino and Domyouji together are adorable enough to spontaneously create puppies? Well, all those puppies are at a pet store where Makino drags Domyouji. Heeee. And she makes him hold one and the Mighty Domyouji is scared of dogs (in this case a fluffy tiny puppy) and it's adorable and he is all 'it's OK if they are at a distance in a cage.' Heeeeee. He is so rigid and it's adorable. She really can twist him around her finger :)
ETA: The merger is off. Kaede, in your deep despair, why don't you kill yourself? Do us all a favor.
ETA: Nishida got fired but he is being all awesome and encouraging to Domyouji and tells him he won't kill himself etc etc. Nishida, come back in your awesomeness!
ETA: And F3 assure Domyouji that even though his ccards are cancelled, they'll take care of him. OMG, friend!ot4 rocks!
ETA: Kaede offers second chance to Domyouji but it's no deal so he gets disowned. Yeah, right, those news are going to stabilize the corporation. God, Kaede really is letter her personal control issues get ahead of her business sense. I hate her.
ETA: OMG! Domyouji is staying at Rui's house and there is bonding and laughing and awesomeness.
ETA: OK, seriously, I know it's a drama contrivance but I got to point it out just once: if Domyouji corp could fall down so much just after one random comment by Domyouji, than it was on the verge of collapse anyway. In which case, it's Darth Kaede who was running it into the ground.
ETA: Also, even if Makino ditches Domyouji now, so what? It's not the merger will then be back on. Though I wouldn't put it past Kaede to be OK with screwing even her business by making more lay-offs than necessary in order to hurt the OTP.
ETA: Domyouji worrying about being able to make a living and take care of Makino? Most adorable thing since bunnies. And Rui is being an awesome friend and giving advice.
ETA: I know he is having nightmares, but I am too fixated on sleeveless MatsuJun to pay it due attention.
ETA: Nooooo, don't go into the Evil Headquarters, Makino! Seriously, how is your giving up Domyouji is going to help? Kaede might un-disown him but if the company is failing, it's failing. You think Kaede isn't trying to save it as hard as she can? And you think Domyouji wouldn't rather be poor but with you than back in Kaede's cold graces?
ETA: Makino, seriously, you have no brain. I understand the impulse, but I want to smack some sense into you.

ETA: Btw, Kaede, maybe the company is falling because your 'work' consists of staring out of the window?
ETA: Seriously. Makino. How can you be that stupid? The bitch admitted to you she is trying to do her best to save the corp anyway. What is the point of backing out then? As for Domyouji getting acknowledged again? See my point above. What do you think his preference is? UGH.
ETA: Domyouji is deciding to start a new life with Makino. Awww. Though you'd look a bit more manly if you weren't sitting with your legs crossed, ok?
ETA: He is being so in love and determined and awesome and cheerful despite being disowned but I can't concentrate because he is putting on the red coat so it means rain sceene. Noooooo!
ETA: I have no meta about the Rain Scene. It's 20 minutes later and I had to pause it since then and I still have no meta. And my eyes are still red. I keep trying to distract myself with the fact that MatsuJun looks awesome with wet hair, or that this is well-written, or how much I hate Kaede at the end, where she just saw her sone eviscerated and her reaction is to smile triumphantly? But I can't. I keep thinking of the gradual heart-break on Domyouji's face, his cheerfulness utterly and slowly destroyed and him just frozen at the end in the rain, and the way he looks at her, with his heart in his eyes. And the way he looks torn open by the end. And the way she breaks down when he can't see. And OK. Seriously. I better stop before I start crying again.

ETA: Tsukushi is back woth her wacko family in the fishing village but I am sorry, I am still not preocessing because all I am thinking of is Domyouji in the rain.
ETA: And F3 find the still frozen Domyouji hanging out at Ebisu (it's a miracle he didn't get pneumonia, seriously) and of course, he is utterly off the leash so he and the hothead Soujiro go at it. I love the way Rui just sits with a set look on his face: a 'here we go again' feeling, with lack of surprise and a bit of sadness. Domyouji really needs Makino to be functional, doesn't he? And I think she's hit on the perfect thing to drive him away: to tell him she's never seen him for himself.
ETA: OMG. She is remembering their day together and crying. Really, unpretty, awesome crying. How much do I love this drama?

ETA: The beat-up Domyouji is standing at the light (which is red, symbolism, ooooo) and he sees Ken. The guy who jumped off the building. OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG. And Ken runs and Domyouji chases.

ETA: Previews. Amnesia. I love how Makino is waiving her necklace to get him to remember her. Awesomeness.

yeah tell me about it i had to watch the rain scene three times to get the gist of it and each time i was bawling that my darling husband felt the need to mock me *evil glare at my husband* and yeah tsukasa really needs tsukushi, she calms him down and ahhh did you soo mad soujiro *melts*

Now I'm just worried about how things will pan out with the whole amnesia/Umi thing. God I hope they manage to give us a happy ending!

Date: 2007-03-12 04:47 am (UTC)I just finished episode 8 & had to read your live blog as the preview has me dreading #9. It sounds heartbreaking but I think I can survive it now. Plus, isn't #10 the last one? Maybe I'll wait so I can watch both & not be left hanging. We better get a good ending - & another kiss - there has been too much dependence on flashbacks & not enough new giddy moments this season.
