Has anyone else switched ships midway through the show and how does this work? I started out quite the Kara/Lee shipper, but sometime between the end of season 2 and the awesomeness of early season 3, I became a pathetic Kara/Anders fangirl. Never happened to me before (was a *gasp* Buffy/Angel shipper until the bitter end) so am rather bemused by the fact. So, has anyone switched ships (doesn't have to be BSG) partway into a show and why?

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] lyssie is so very awesome.

She just posted (spoilery) pics that made me die.

Also, I need to do a write-up on BSG 3.04.

Am lazy and need sleep though...

Re: ship jumping. I was a huge Chase/Cameron shipper in the House MD fandom. Then they actually got together, and it was hot, but then the tension and the magic was gone. Now I'm a House/Cameron fan instead.

See, I didn't switch to Kara/Anders (or Kara/Not!Apollo as I like to refer to him), I just quit pilots. Well, I put myself on pilot 'ship hiatus. And now they're trying to win me back, and...well. Let's see if they can manage it.

I went from being a hardcore Logan/Veronica shipper to Logan/anyone *but* Veronica in VM. I think you know my reasons :)

I never was a big Lee/Kara shipper, but I did like Kara/Anders. Though I have to say I find myself less and less interested in Kara and other characters I used to find deeply interesting and more and more in Athena, Helo, Gaeta and other characters.

I only 'ship switch when to begin with, I was never into the 'ship. Does that make sense? ^^' Sometimes I have 'ship that I just 'ship for the sake of 'shipping. For example, I was okay with (Gilmore Girls) Rory/Dean at the beginning, and then came season 2 and I jumped ship to Jess/Rory and have stayed there since.

But once I get really really attached to a 'ship, once I start near-obsessing, I never jump again.

...err, did that even make any sense? ^^;

Hmmmm, I don't think I ever have. Probably because as a multi shipper I start out with a bunch of ships that strike me as potentially interesting. There sometimes whatever the top ship is can slide into the background if it becomes impossible in canon and develops into a direction I don't like. I don't think that I have ever actually *turned* on a ship.

I think I must ponder this more.

Also? Barely know the show, but those pictures were hot!

Waves, me too.

I was quite happy with Lee/Kara, until about Scar. I could see where and how they might develop a relationship and the hints were there, and I even have the fanfic to prove it. I have Lee trapped on Caprica and Helo going off and rescuing him and Anders and Kara realising it is Lee she really loves.

However given what has happened with the characters over time I can no longer see them getting together in any meaningful relationship. They are both too damaged and too much water under the bridge at this point. Their relationship has become violent, twisted and very, very unhealthy. I really think that if they got involved, Kara would kill Lee, not intentionally, but given the Leoben mind-frak, and how Lee winds her up, and she him, and the fact that he does not always step back - danger.

I genuinely like Anders, and while I think that the initial Kara falls in love with him in The Farm set-up was rushed, the follow-up on their relationship has made me a Kara/Anders shipper. He is good for her, and also, crucially unlike Lee, does not have a whole history of baggage with her. He deals with her invery different terms to Lee. The fact he walked in Collaborators made me really admire him, as he still loves her, but is not prepared to play her games. And that will allow them to have a much better, stronger relationship. I want Anders back with Kara

I also like Lee/Dee. Again, crap set-up and why are all the good scenes in this one in the deleted scenes. I want Lee/Dee to work. Lee definitely has emotional issues with women, and has a whole clinging/needy side to him that I find fascinating, from the deleted scenes, where Dee tries to break-up, and the scene in the cabin on LDYB. He married her for all the wrong reasons, unlike Kara/Sam, but I think they are good for each other. That scene in Occupation, is so much a married couple and sweet. But I want it to work. However in that one, I predict major hiccups.

I am not a major shipper. I never did the whole ship thing with Buffy. I tend to be multiship and go with anything and everything.

My ship of choice on BSG - Lee/Helo :)

I think I'm going to be die-hard Kara/Lee with BSG, but I do like Kara/Anders during the interum.

I tend to switch ships for one reasons - the cannon pairing turns out to be more interesting than my imaginary one. I was a Willow/Xander shipper way back in the beginning of Buffy, until I realized that Willow/Oz was much better.(And then I hated Willow/Tara, until I realized it was good.) If the cannon pairing is good, then I'm onboard or if nothing is better than my imaginary pairing (SPIKE/BUFFY!!), then I'm okay, too. That being said, I have about a million different ships that I like.

Regarding jumping ship, I always say "whatever floats your boat". Anders is a hottie, I'll give you that. But my angst-o-meter skyrockets with Lee/Kara - the next ep looks tantalizing.

Heh.

I think with BSG, I have an alternaship that is now my primary (Helo/Sharon) but honestly, BSG doesn't make me ship much which is unusual for me. I think I like the show mentally more than emotionally, if that makese sense so I don't have a huge emotional investment in the characters.

Athena, Helo, Gaeta and other characters.

That's true. I noticed my focus shifting as well. Especially Gaeta...

See, I am never a multi-shipper. Either I ship one ship, or none at all, in which case I am amused at the thought of characters in various combos, but I am not what I'd call a shipper, someone who is emotionally interested/invested.

Btw, I finally got my Quo Vadis in the mail. Will let you know if it's any good.

That's interesting. I am generally a canon nazi, so I don't usually ship unless the ship is canon. But I have a huge problem when one canon ship is replaced by another. I get all flaily and go..buuuu....OTP! :)

well, while I'm frequently a shipper with my various fandoms, I rarely ever get into to the idea of OTP, I usually like different permutations. for example with BTVS/Angel,I liked Buffy/Angel,Buffy/Spike,Angel/Spike, Angel/Cordy and about 8 million other combinations. also, I really care more about relationships and them making sense, having a natural evolution storyline wise than if two characters get together romantically or not. some of my favorite "ships" to watch are non-romantic pairings(at least for me they aren't romantic) such as Buffy/Giles, Veronica/Keith, Bayliss/Pembleton(from HLOTS).

with BSG, I ship Adama/Roslin but I don't care if they ever actually get together on the show. I just love the interaction between them. I love Helo/Sharon but I liked the Chief and Sharon(though, granted it was a different Sharon)as well. with Kara/Lee, I like them, but I go back and forth a lot. if they end up together in the end, that would be fine. if they don't that would also be fine by me. as far as Kara/Anders goes, I didn't like them at first because I really didn't think much of MT in his first few episodes. but when Anders came back at the end of last season, I grew to like him quite a bit, and I started to really love Kara/Anders. but again, if they don't get back together it won't bother me. I just want the writing to make sense.

on a side note, I was a Logan/Veronica shipper, season one, and through the first part of S2, but then I really grew to want them apart. so I sort of switched there, though I didn't really replace the ship so to speak. I just prefer them apart.

I never jump ships! I'm mostly multi-shipper-friendly-overenthusiast!!! I love my Kara/Lee, but then again I love Kara/Anders as well! And Dee/Lee when the writers don't intend to bore me *hee* ... and now I'm loving Helo/Sharon as well so there you go!!!

I was never uber Kara/Lee, but I wasn't against them. But I did become very pro Kara/Anders. And still am.

Aww, another Buffy/Angel shipper to the end. They're so OTP. Spike who?

The first L/D scene where I saw the ship was the one in 3.04 when he told her he was proud to serve her. Unlike with K/A where I see the chemistry, I confess I am OK with L/D but they don't interest me as much.

Yeah, that makes sense. Sometimes the nonromantic ships are actually the most interesting ones (like Buffy/Giles).

Just passing though and thought I'd add my $0.02. :)

I've never been able to stick to any one ship in a particular fandom. If the characters are interesting and have some sort of chemistry together, I'll read or write them. I just don't get emotionally attached to what I see onscreen, I guess, and I've never understood the emo and ship wars that often goes on in fandom.

Sadly, I can't see the writers keeping them together. I love Kara and she's my favorite character, but she's stupid sometimes.

I really hope they will. I mean, I will never deny the L/K history and chemistry but Anders is just so much more functional vis a vis Kara.

Please, evil writers...
