Things that make me go ‘huh?’
1. In the Hana Yori Dango section of ff.net, there is a story that is a word for word retelling of the drama Silence only with the names changed to the HYD characters (yup, it’s a Lei/SC romance with poor DMS being the evil Zuo Jun). Why? If people want Silence they can watch it. Silence even stars Vic Zhou so if you want to see him be Wei Yi, you can do so to your heart’s content. Huh?
2. Someone on d-addicts cracked me up by saying that they tried watching the jdrama Strawberry on the Shortcake (which I haven’t seen yet, but it’s
klmorgan recced and stars TH so I will soon) and decided that it was so interesting that from now on they won’t be prejudiced just because the jdrama actors aren’t as good looking as the ones in kdramas. Praiseworthy sentiment and all that, and I’d even agree with the poster that kdrama actors are hotter in general but…But…I’d be moved by such a ‘looks don’t matter’ approach except for the fact that SoS stars Takki! A drama that stars Takki is really not the testing ground for such a statement. Tastes differ and all that, but come on, have you seen him? One of the few times in my life I nearly swallowed my tongue was the first shot of him in Forbidden Love.
Manga News:
1. In volume 10 of Wallflower, even Ranmaru admits Sunako is Kyouhei’s girl. Heeee.
2. Saw first volume of Vampire Knights and it looks good. I really liked the mangaka’s previous MeruPuri.
Oh, and more on Tatta Hitotsu No Koi.
Best thing since...last drama I raved about. Seriously, I love it.
I hate Nao’s family with a wholly irrational hate. They should not control her like that, as it’s a sure way to lose her. And to set up that arranged date so quickly? What are they, insane? And to try to guilt-trip her? Ugh. Hate.
Hiroto, stop breaking my heart! That whole bit where they say goodbye the ‘morning after’ and he is so relaxed and expectant and he pulls her in by her coat button? And she can’t say good bye because she knows it’s the end and is clutching his coat? I die.
And then he is happy and makes that awesome ring and you just know something horrible is coming and oh, my heart breaks for him, when he refuses the offer of Nao’s new phone number because if he has it, he’d not be able to not call it. So much longing hidden behind that rather quiet statement.
And OMG, his rush for a flashlight to signal back to Nao and yet still trying to be quiet so as not to wake up Ren. And he is so...oh God. Hiroto is so emotionally open despite trying his hardest not to be, and he let his guard down with Nao so utterly and he is so young and in love and hopeful and desperate all at once and this is killing me.
But the scene that really killed me? The conversation with Nao’s Dad. Because you can tell he is expectant about it, but he gets offered money and he is uncomprehending and then he finds out his Mom and the look on his face? It’s like something necessary in him literally dies at that moment. Kame, stop making me cry. And then he is sitting, slouched, in the apartment, just drinking shot after shot and you can tell it’s not helping and he asks his Mom about the money (the horrible BITCH, she doesn't care she took away the last good thing in his life) and then just wanders out repeating, dully, with utter finality ‘This is the end, this is the end’ and throws that beautiful ring that he worked so lovingly on into the water? Waterworks. I am so poed Nao never found out about it.
And when he tells Ren Nao won't be coming for Christmas and he tries to lie about the reasons but he is an awful liar...the bit in the scene that really killed me when he gets ready to cook dinner and he just pauses over the crockery and you can just see that he is almost immobilized with misery and can't make himself move and yet he has to, because he is trapped in this workaday world of having to take care of others (because his mother is USELESS). Oh God.
Yay on her walking out on her awful family (but boo on poor Hiroto being out to save that worthless employee’s life and her having to stay with Ayuta). Eeeee! I can’t take this.
I couldn’t bear the angst of ep 8 so I ended up watching the end of ep 10. SQUEE. *dies*
How much did I love Hiroto channeling Dao Ming Si and racing after the bus? And that awesome love letter Nao wrote him (I love how she never has any barriers) and Nao getting off and the hope and the love and the joy between them and her glomping him. I love how she is always first to do so, almost as if he doesn’t dare. And they are hugging and are so hopeful and happy and can’t stop grinning and he totally proposed *dies* and a bit of a long distance relationship is nothing after their love survived 3 years of no contact. I love the way Hiroto is transformed whenever he is with her. When he is with Nao, it ceases to be an existence and becomes a life.
And then all five of them chasing after the bus together and his voice over about always looking for something when with her (in call back to their earlier meeting) and OMG seeing them like this is PERFECT. Love. I could not have been able to bear an unhappy ending but this is even better than I hoped for.
