I've been sick with a horrible cold today: fever, coughing, the works. I got out of bed, literally, three times. But you know what makes it better? Mainlining The Legend. But if this and the last post are not as coherent as they normally are, I plead the excuse of my being sick.
Sujini, I have the world's biggest crush on you. She is with DD in the judgment chamber and all the nobles are clamoring for the sword test (i.e. having a sword thrust into DD's heart, if he is innocent, he is supposed to survive). And DD is resigned to it (boy is suicidal) and Kiha is standing like a useless cow (seriously, when he asks the Oracle to ask Kiha what happened the night the King died, because he can't even stand talking to her directly, and Kiha is all 'if you ask me yourself, I'll answer.' WTF, stupid cow, it's not the time for dramatics). And I love the earlier scene with DD and Ho Gae, where DD was just dripping contempt and is all 'are you the mastermind? If you were, I might even respect you.' OMG.
Anyway, the craziness is going on and Sujini yells in the middle of the assembly. Yup, the street rat girl. Something to the effect of 'have you lost your minds, would any of you survive a thrust to the heart?' and her Master tries to shush her and she is all 'I have to get the Crown Prince out of this crazy place.'
I love you, girl.
And he turns to her, because he knows there is no chance, and just looks at her.
And I love how he stands there, ready, and asks the Oracle. 'Does heaven really exist? Does it know me?' And the Oracle is horrified, so he looks at her and smiles bitterly. 'Have you no faith in Heaven, Oracle? If Jooshin is created by Heaven and I am its king, I cannot be killed by the judgment sword.' OMG, hello kamikazi.
Kiha officially wins the 'crazy bitch' title of this drama. When Ho Gae is about to stab DD, she takes the sword and does it herself. Why???? Out of some bizarre 'that way we'll die together because I will off myself afterwards too' thought. Crazy. Cow. And I love how he just looks at her, and is thinking 'is this how you killed my father, too?'
And then he crumples into Sujini's arms and I love how the nobles almost feel an anticlimax, and Kiha prepares to off herself, but he comes back to life and the sword dissolves into dust OMG.
I have to say, I love Lord Yon's sheer shamelessness. It's like a Russian saying: 'if you spit into his eyes, he will say it's just God's dew.' Now he is trying to convince the nobles the sword was fake. Good luck.
And I love the scene of DD and Sujini in the throne room. I love how whenever he gets mopey, she totally knows how to cheer him up. Yay.
Oh, and Evil Elder tries to remove Kiha's memories but it ain't working. And am I crazy, but does the hot, silver-haired second-in-command like Kiha?
Yeah, Evil Elder, brilliant plan. Now she is in a coma.
Hmmm, DD wouldn't have to study up on all the neighboring countries if his Daddy Psychoest educated him properly.
OMG, he has no desire to be the Jooshin King but he will do his best because he owes it to the dead (he didn't say it, but it's clear that is what he thinks).
Sujini: savior of the King. Liquor stealer.
OMG, the scene where Ho Tae comes into the room where Kiha is unconscious? Killed me 18 different ways. He just looks and looks and looks at her. And he is blotting her forehead (she is burning up). And he takes off his outer jacket (because she is literally burning up the room: candles melting etc). And sits down to watch her. Probably I like it even more than usual because I am totally sick today, with a nasty fever, sore throat, and a cough that won't stop. I want someone to take care of me lovingly.
And he holds her down when she is thrashing in her delirium. Love him, woman, dammit!
Oh man, how can he even stand to be in a room that hot? Sujini can't even get too close to the window? And she clutches at him and he holds her, to soothe her, and OMG. Man, he must be getting burns, she is literally emanating heat. But he won't budge. And then he can't help it, he tries but he can't stop: he buries his face in her hair. OMG. OMG Ho Tae I love you. I have never loved 'bad guy' before but I love you.
I wonder why Sujini is so shaken, overseeing this? Some sort of residual bond with Kiha? Her misunderstanding and thinking it means Kiha always loved Ho Tae (by that point she views Kiha as a traitor anyway, so there shouldn't be any surprise).
Dam Deok with Blacksmith Lady = FTW. Btw, I love how all the women in this, good or bad, are strong. From the mad Lady Yon, to Sujini and Kiha, strong in their different ways, to even that friend of Blacksmith Lady, who gets the mercenary to teach her how to fight, because he husband died and she might die too, in the unrest of the times, but she wants to go down fighting.
Oh man, Ho Tae brought Kiha a new flower, as she singed the old one off. And he is stroking her hair OMG. And he begs her to wake up OMG OMG. And he is thinking of her as connection to his goodness OMG. And he kisses her forehead. But oh, what is she dreaming of in her delirium? The night she and DD spent together in the cave.
And she wakes up! And is feeling nauseous. OMG, are they trying to tell me she is pregnant?????
OMG, the previews are even more awesome.
And here are a ton of caps from the ep.

Date: 2008-01-24 12:12 am (UTC)I really love that there is someone who loves Kiha and someone who (will) love Sujini.
Also, usually in this type of story, tomboys never get a guy, but not here.
Re: pregnancy. It's interesting, because some of it really is mixed up. This time it's Sujini who is the rough one and Kiha the ladylike. But the thing is, no matter the outside, the core is the same: Kajin threw a baby off a cliff, Sujini delivered DD's message to Kiha! And who knows how relatively good Kajin would have turned out if she wasn't from the evil tribe. I wonder if her loss of DD here is some sort of carmic punishment.

Date: 2009-07-30 04:29 am (UTC)I kind of get why she wasn't saying anything but at the same time I was annoyed and it kind of cemented to me why she wouldn't be the right person for Dam Duk. She's upset because he didn't trust her and, yeah, she wants him to ask her himself, but THERE'S A TIME FOR EVERYTHING KIHA AND WHEN HE'S ABOUT TO OFF HIMSELF WITH THE JUDGEMENT SWORD, MAYBE YOU SHOULD SPEAK UP? And throughout this whole thing, I was thinking, maybe the Dam Duk of the past (even the Dam Duk of the first 1-9 episodes) would have been fine for her, but after the father's death, Dam Duk became much much more . . . depressive and contemplative and needs that source of light and fun that Sujini is. . . and not the dreariness that is Kiha. Because that's the best way I can put her character. Dreary. I don't think I've seen her crack a smile yet. If her and Dam Duk end up together, it will be the most miserable, depressing coupling ever. Who would cheer him up when he's sad? What would she even SAY to cheer him up? I can't see her as the cheerful type!

My theory is that she didn't want Dam Duk to die by Ho Gae's hands (although maybe it would have been better if he did, thus letting Ho Gae fully 'avenge' his mothers death). That, or she's just crazy? I don't know.
And I love the scene of DD and Sujini in the throne room. I love how whenever he gets mopey, she totally knows how to cheer him up. Yay.
Exactly what I said! How would Kiha cheer him up in that situation? It'd be a room of silence!
And she wakes up! And is feeling nauseous. OMG, are they trying to tell me she is pregnant?????
I REALLY HOPE NOT ALTHOUGH THAT WOULD ADD A BUNCH OF DRAMA (AND ANGST) INTO THE PLOT. OH MAN, I REALLY HOPE NOT.

Date: 2009-07-30 01:58 pm (UTC)Exactly. She loves to play the martyr so much and feels so wronged but she never bothers to clear up the pretty understandable mis-impression he has. Contrast it with Sujini who is always speaking up her mind. All of Kiha's future problems are self-made.
What would she even SAY to cheer him up?
"Don't weep, DD - it could be worse, you could be me and have my superior angst."
