Here are some more scattered Deathly Hallows thoughts.



Epilogue thoughts:

I would bet that James' middle name is Sirius :P With names like this, no wonder he seems to be a troublemaker. He is probably a lot like what his namesake Grandpa was. Albus Severus (what a name, argh) strikes me as a lot more like Harry himself.

I do wish we found out about what happened to everyone, not just H/G and R/Hr. What happened to Luna? How are the Weasleys in general? How is George *sob* coping? Heck, what H/R/Hr/Ginny do for a living. Is there change in the magical world about equality? What?

Other thoughts:

Lupin being madly proud of being a Dad is just...GUH. *weeps* *smiles* I have a huge weakness for Tonks/Lupin, and I kept hoping they would survive, but in a way, it's better for them both to be dead than for one to survive. If Tonks died, I don't think Lupin could have dealt with it at all, without going to pieces. He is prone to self-blame and depression at the best of times. And if Lupin died? Well, Tonks was all going to pieces in Book 6 when he was merely pushing her away 'for her own good' (so drama!) There is an awesome fic which I need to find again, dealing with their deaths though.

Percy coming back to the family made me cry. He made mistakes and got led astray but when push comes to shove, he is a good guy and he (like all Weasleys) would do the right thing, and would die for his family. I love that the Twins welcomed him back and that whole scene was perfect with the teasing and apologies and acceptance and love. (Yeah, it was great for Molly and Arthur to hug their son, but he had the most differences with the Twins, so...They are of course closest in age). And Percy making Fred laugh and then Fred dying, still smiling, and Percy covering his brother's body with his own, so no more damage would be done to it and refusing to move and Ron wanting more than anything to go after the murderer, beyond reason and...seriously. It was BAWL time. I really wanted to read George's reaction but I can imagine it and...

But back to Percy, I love that he is still pompous and prosy in the epilogue. That's the thing I love about the book: flawed good people. Percy is a good guy but he would never change his personality 100%: he might love his family, fight the good fight etc, but he will always be a bit prosy.

I know Ron is with Harry and Hermione on the Tower by the end, and I bet it's shock and the death of his brother hasn't sunk in yet.

Also, I am so slow. I never realized that Snape told Harry 'look at me' as he was dying because that way the last thing he'd see would be Lily's eyes.

And i was very frustrated with the epilogue. Yeah, they had kids and they're going to hogwarts... duh. What are their carreers? What about everyone else? Whats with the names rose & hugo kinda random. surprised the boy isn't named fred although i suppose she might not've wanted everybody to be named after somebody dead, even though she went there with alll of H/G's kids & its prob his middle name... and albus severus? not a pretty name . I want to bet Neville & Luna are married (he seemed a bit friendly and protective of her).. but yeah, I want to see the weasley family. Harry and Ginny are both really powerful, wtf are they doing with their lives now? What kinda brainy thing is hermione doing? ron? blahhhhhh. it was cute, but disapointing that that was all.

in my vision of the unwritten endings:

Neville, as professor of herbology at Hogworts, stuck up a business relationship with George, who is carrying on the twins business. they later strike up a personal relationship. (no, i don't favor slash, but hello, two characters who just have always been "hi, i'm gay!")

Luna, ah Luna . . . i see her continuing her father's work and publishing the Quibbler. and for some reason, she never struck me as a relationship person, as she is just so odd and out there and in her own world. but her and Percy. . . . i mean, we don't know who he is with or what his career is. could be he's there with Luna.

i kind of like the vast openness of the epilogue. the reader gets to fill it in with their own wishes and imagination. and the important characters, our trio is presented as the focus.

i imagine Harry is indeed an Auror as he always wanted to be. Ron probably works in the newly restructured Ministry, and Hermione probably is Minister. ;)

Ron, Hermione. Rose, Hugo. I'm guessing they each have one child named after the first later of the other parent, and that Hermione bossed Ron into giving them reasonably muggle-ish names. ;)

Yeah, I wanted to know what they were doing with their lives other than parenthood, too. Oh, well. If JKR ever does decide to write about the next generation, I suppose we'll find out about what they all did with their lives.

Also, I am quite certain that with initials like ASP, young Albus Severus is going to end up in Slytherin! Which would be AWESOME.

well, if not Neville, Lee Jordan. :) or was that Fred who always had the chemistry with Lee? though Lee kind of has chemistry with everyone, if you know what i mean. . .

and after this, any Dark doings are a piece o' cake. he also said it was the only thing he could ever imagine doing with his life. and i'm sure he doesn't try to be an adrenaline junkie, but somehow, i have a feeling once it is all gone, he's going to have the itch to just do something wild and crazy and dangerous. Auror would be a good outlet.

I remember reading somewhere, that yes, Harry does indeed become an auror but refuses to work for the ministry...and Luna? I see her for sure continuing the Quibbler and getting married to Dean...
