I've got my hands on a copy of LAAH, so will check it out this weekend. Need my dose of angst.

The person who designed the DVD has an interesting sense of humor as the biggest-font critic comment on the back is "It's Clear that Hayden Christensen is a Force to be Reckoned With." Hardy-har-har. Ahhhh....my head!

Also, courtesy of lovely husband's Borders gift cards I've bought a whole bunch of stuff:

2 Simon and Garfunkel CDs
Hotel Rwanda (best movie of last year)
William Dalrymple's "City of Djinns" (his write-up of spending a year in Delhi)
Diane Haeger "The Ruby Ring" (novel about Raphael's mistress)
Eiji Yoshikawa "Musashi" (I've been dying to get it for ages, but it seemed weird to spend $35 on a single book)

I totally *facepalmed* when I read the back of that DVD. Everyone agrees that the movie is sappy as all get out, but that Hayden's performance really stands out.

You have the best icons.

I am not a big sappy fan, but I am willing to deal because of angst.

I have a compulsive need to change out my icons a lot.

Boy has the angst in this one, I'll say that. He's one big shirtless, often wet mass of angst.

ROFL!

And that is why I am going to tolerate the sap and Kevin Kline. Can't be worse than a movie I watched with Elijah Wood and Franka Potente (I have thankfully blocked the name out of my memory) when I wanted to see how Frodo was outside of LOTR.

Simon and Garfunkel is a great band. I haven't heard a lot of their music, but The Graduate soundtrack is amazing and my mother has a few of their LPs. I'd love to hear more of their music.
Any suggestions for albums I should check out?

I love their Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme album.

and right now I am listening to their "Sound of Silence" album, it is excellent as well.

My husband isn't keen on them but ever since I saw The Graduate, I've been in love with the soundtrack and their sound...

The Graduate is an amazing movie. The music accentuates the period and the mood of the movie so well.

Thank you so much for the suggestions! :)

Oh, I love that movie. I saw it for the first time expecting nothing much but was blown away.

Oh, I saw it once when I was in 8th grade(?) and I really wasn't able to get into it, but I saw it once again recently and I just connected with it. It's definitely one of my favorite movies. It's just so true to life.

Have you ever seen Garden State?

It's my favorite, favorite part.

R. And it earned it. Though you don't really see anything. Except Kevin Kline's butt, which NO ONE wants to see.

It's one of the funniest parts anyway. You just love Sam right then.

Yeah. I could happily live my life without that particular sight.

It's great. I would best describe it as a modern update of 'The Graduate' starring Natalie Portman and Zach Braff(who directed and produced the movie, as well). Once you've finished watching LAAH and telling me about it, you must go out and rent it. :)

BTW, I love you're 'So Wasn't Me' Ewan icon. Ewan<3.

You'll get it when you watch the movie. I promise. Six inches plays an important part.

Yeah, if you didn't like Sam beforehand, he totally redeems himself at that moment. The look on his face is even funny.

Well, we shouldn't probably say anymore so we don't give any spoilers away. :D It's too great a moment to ruin.

The one with "all I got was this lousy shirt"

The one you have now is even more priceless!

Are you an Obidala fan? (cause of the icon). *is curious*

From: [identity profile] ewanspotter.livejournal.com
I forgot I put that icon up. lol Obidala fan? Hmmm. No, not really. I like me some Luke and Leia, so ship between Anakin and Padme are a must have. But there was something about the icon that I liked. I can't explain why really. I mean, I kinda feel bad that Obi-Wan will never get what Anakin had, if even for a little while.

OTOH he didn't end up burnt, cooped up in a suit and blaming himself for killing the love of his life. I think it balanced out :)

Well, that's true too.

And it's not like Obi never got any action. He even "loved" someone, it just didn't work out.
