Oh my Gosh, I am so in love with Tree of Heaven. I don't even know which ep I am at any more, but the two year time jump just happened.
OMG! I was screaming at the TV.
But that scene, with him coming to the place where they were celebrating graduation, and just begging her not to leave for Tokyo, and be all 'tell me you don't love me, just stay' and telling her she is the only person in his life, and holding her and just begging and OMG he ran to the hall barefoot in a t-shirt, in winter! And then Senpai and the rest breaking in and Senpai punches him but YH is lying on the ground just repeating 'don't go, say just that one sentence, one word' and Hena won't and OMG OMG OMG. So he gets up and says that it's all his fault and it's the first time in his life he loves someone so he lost it a bit and says 'sorry.' And walks out. And it finally breaks through for Hena and she runs after him, screaming 'oppa' but cant find him (he sees her but he doesn't come forward because he can see she can't admit her loving him to herself out loud).
I really wanted to shake her there. You love him. So come on. He is groveling. It kills me that he bares everything to her (alas not that way :D) makes himself so vulnerable, for her just to reject him. He has no stops (I love how his character oscilates between amazing and making me a bit freaked out. The boy IS messed up) but she is a bit too conventional. Oh no.
Did I mention the awesome bits that led to it? First, after their 'I hate you' fight, where he keeps following her everywhere (even into ladies' room) and once again, the intensity is just whoa...And then he tells her he likes her, loves her, but if she says she doesn't, he'll stop. So finally, on school trip, she breaks down and runs to the train to take the train back to him only to miss it. But then she sees him on the platform, in t-shirt and jeans (seriously, how the lead didn't die in hypothermia I have no idea. But he looks hot when he runs, and he probably runs so hard to keep warm) and he is shivering, and OMG, they see each other and there is that HUG!!! (Contrast to her non-hug later with Senpai).
And then they totally have happiness and OMG, he really lights up when he smiles. I love the bit with them eating from each other's plates, or when he sees her ogle fancy shoe in a shoe store, he drags her in and they spend hours with him trying on shoes on her feet (so cute!) and he gets her a pink pair and she wobbles in them so he carries her on his back and he is all 'you are heavy, but warm' eeeee!
And then she asks him to be her tree (because trees stay around and snow melts) and he says it's their promise and then she gives him the cross back and says she loves him and is going to Tokyo and takes off her fancy pink shoes and walks away, barefoot. OMG OMG. And then the scene that made me hyperventilate follows. So gooooood.
This drama hits my kinks so dead center, it's hard to describe. It's like Devil Beside You in it's bad-boy-good-girl-stepsibling-love but only it's done right, with lots of angst.
Also, Lee Wan? Out of this world HOT. I space out just staring at him.
P.S. I find it interesting how YH and Hena are in some ways each other's parental replacements.

Date: 2007-03-09 09:27 pm (UTC)I thought the chemistry between Wannie and Shin Hye was amazing.
Oh yes. They totally burn the screen. They should do another one. This is so pitch perfect. It's really hard to do something like this without getting all baroquely overwrought but it never feels like this: it just feels painfully emotionally real. Oh yes, I've been crying already.
Have you watched Let's go to the Beach? Lee Wan is in it
Nope. This is the first thing I've seen Lee Wan in and now I am 'OMG! Where has he been all my life, I need to find other stuff with him.' The combo of gorgeousness+vulnerability+expressive intensity=me dead.

Date: 2007-03-09 11:52 pm (UTC)he does seem so over the top sometimes, but I think this is because he feels what she feels and just expresses it absolutely freely, they have that special connection. Particular he because he couldn't speak for so long, he developed the "six" sense.
Oh exactly. In a way, he's been 'liberated' from society due to his isolation and trauma. And he has not learned how to control himself emotionally. *swoons*

Date: 2007-03-10 02:19 am (UTC)I loved those scenes too! I'm curious of Lee Wan's other dramas are as good. I really wouldn't mind seeing more of him. I can't wait for the one he's filming now. I just finished half of episode 7. You must watch it!! It keeps getting better!
P.S. I find it interesting how YH and Hena are in some ways each other's parental replacements. I find that interesting too.

Date: 2007-03-10 01:31 pm (UTC)The haircut is a little similar, but I don't see more, sorry! May be because I like Rui to bits but Senpai is a bit creepy - there were no need to give so many bruises to Yoon Suh during the judo session, even if he kept attacking Senpai. There must be some defensive way in judo that allows to shake the opponent without damaging him too much. Srenpai will be a problem in the future, I think!
