Happy 8th of March, everyone!



Where I grew up (former Soviet Union), 8th of March was Women's Day and was a big holiday. It was celebrated with cards and flowers. More specifically, yellow mimosa flowers that loved ones and/or friends gave to women. I remember buying some for my Mom. To this day, I associate yellow mimosas with early spring.

I had no idea there was a such thing as Women's Day, but in school today we made a point of telling the fifth graders that today is International Women's Day. Now they all have assignments pertaining to famous women. No better way to celebrate than with HOMEWORK, I guess!

Yeah, it's huge. It's like Valentine's Day and Mother's Day rolled into one. It's an official holiday with offices closed and all :)

Cool cards! I didn't know you were Russian! :) In Indonesia Women's Day is not a big deal at all. Actually I didn't even know there was one! :/ Receiving flowers and cards is a wonderful thing, though!
