First off, here my giddy meta on Tatta Hitotsu No Koi, episode 7.

Otherwise known as ‘the one that made me cry.’

Ayuta’s little thing for Nao? Blah. Give it up.

First off, the actor playing Nao’s brother is hot. This said, I wish her brother would just shut the hell up. Don’t you go breaking up my OTP (yes, I’ve gotten to the purely irrational stage where anyone interfering with my OTP is evil). That especially includes Hiroto’s horrible mother, who ruins everything in a spectacular fashion by (stupid cow!) trying to blackmail Nao’s Dad about some pictures she took of Nao and Hiroto on the boat (people, they are hugging! Fully clothed! Shock!) I hate her. She doesn’t care she is ruining her son’s life.

And that’s the thing. Much as I want to scream at Nao’s family, at the fact that they disconnect her cell, hire a bodyguard etc, so she won’t see Hiroto again, I can understand where they are coming from. They are very protective of Nao. People Hiroto knows almost hurt Nao. Hiroto’s mother is a blackmailing slut. Hiroto himself is far from a stellar marriage prospect. (Though I like that her Mom lets her daughter go for one last night with Hiroto, I still want to hit her when she is all ‘your brother gave you his marrow, so you shouldn’t disobey him.’ It still doesn’t mean they can run her life).

And that’s the thing. If everything was different in Hiroto’s life, there could be some hope. I love the conversation he has with Nao’s father, and his utter straightforwardness in saying that no, there would never be anyone else for whom he’ll feel the same, no matter who he will meet. And he tells Nao’s Dad that he would give up his life if it would mean Nao would live (and Dad doesn’t know it, but the knife scene certainly proved it) and you can see the glimmer of respect in Dad’s eyes, as much, IMO, for the undramatic plain way in which Hiroto says it, as for the statement itself.

I think the first scene on the boat with Nao and Hiroto is one of my favorite drama things ever. He tells her he talked to her father, he tells her he knows about her inability to have children. (Btw, during that whole scene, I die, when he touches her lips with his finger, to shush her, and takes her hand and holds it). And he tells her the kids don’t matter because he kept thinking about it and the choice was easy, because if he was to choose, he’d always have her. I love the directness “Because it has to be you.” There are no filters between them. And she asks if he knows she could die (because it hasn’t been five years yet) and he very seriously replies that the chances are low and he researched it (I am dying here at the image of Hiroto researching) and he says it’s worth the risk. And they hug.

And they have such sweet, real chemistry. And I love the matter-of-fact way she asks if they are going to get married and he replies he can’t imagine being without her and she replies that the thought of being with him for the rest of her life makes her happy. And then he jokes that he feels that he is being tackled even though he’s already fallen and they do fake chokeholds. They are almost kid-like in their joy, and it just kills me how little they ask of life, how little they’ve been given (Hiroto’s poverty and Nao’s illness both agents of isolation. Their “I’ve never been abroad because I was sick” and “I’ve never been abroad because I was sick” are a good illustration. Btw, Hiroto must be utterly comfortable with her if he would mention he is poor, like that). But of course his horrible mother takes photos.

Oh, poor poor Hiroto. He has to beg money this ep because his employee stole it (why don’t they go to police btw, is it a cultural thing, this reluctance. They discuss but decide not to). I hate to see him humiliate himself. Hate. But he will always do his duty.

The scene where he calls her cell and it’s disconnected and calls the house and they say she is in the hospital? I cried. Yup, I am a sap.

The intercuts between her Mom telling Nao she can’t see Hiroto (and she was knitting the glove for him, too) and Hiroto and Ren making that whale toy with so much work and care and love just killed me, with Nao’s despair intercut with Hiroto being all sweetly anticipatory about seeing Nao for Christmas. He must think one thing in his life is going right.

And then comes my favorite scene. Because she runs away from the hospital (her Mom lets her on agreement she’d be back by morning) and she calls him and he comes running and I love that. She is always making him run :) And she asks for $$$ and he quips 'already' and he tells her 'this is crazy' (about her running away), so she replies 'at least I have shoes on.'

And it turns out she wants $$$ to go spend the night with him. And then comes the scene that kills me. Because he asks her, can they do it later and before they do anything else can he hold her? And he clutches on to her for dear life and holds and holds. And she asks what's wrong, and he tells her about at phones and that he was so scared something was wrong. Poor guy, he must have been flipping out. Somehow Kame here really makes me empathize, and not even sympathize with Hiroto. Hiroto becomes hyper real.

And he is so relieved and omg, the look on her face. Because he thinks it's the beginning and she knows it's the end (and I can’t bear to watch him find out, because we saw how he was willing to endure anything rather than lose her).

And then we get to the morning after. GLEEEEEEEE! OMG, they so did it. On the boat, too. Heeeeee. And she is glowing, and he is grinny with the breakfast, and she asks him to kiss her, and he keeps cracking up, and she pushes him, and a little too hard, and he falls (Kame, eat something). LOVE. I love seeing him so carefree. Nao mentions she wants a ring and Hiroto goes 'you family owns a jewelry store' but he is joking and of course it's not the kind of ring she is talking about and yeah, come on, you made love to her, give the girl a ring, Hiroto!

And then I had to pause because I couldn’t bear to watch more. But more tonight.

And then comes the highlight of my post. Namely? A slew of gorgeous, gorgeous Hana Yori Dango 2 pics (promo shots and stills and caps). I have to warn [livejournal.com profile] meganbmoore to have smelling salts ready because your boy Oguri Shun…*thud* (My thudding for MatsuJun and the Matsuda Shota go without even mentioning).

OK, as a final thing, I am reading the Wallflower manga and So. Much. Love.

I love the whole bit about how all the guys (except Yuki) were dysfunctional when they got to Landlady’s house. Especially Kyohei, who was literally kidnapped repeatedly and all this gave him mom a nervous breakdown. Heh. Their tolerance and liking for Sunako really makes sense now (and also the whole Kyohei is really uninterested in Sunako’s looks one way or another. Because his own looks are just a bother. And because Sunako isn’t falling all over him). Hmmm, other things I loved. Noi jealous over Takenaga and N/T kiss. The whole Kyohei rescuing Sunako from the burning house and saying he and Sunako kissed because the innkeeper is saying Sunako is ugly and no guy would want her (and Sunako going into amnesia, heeeee, and Kyohei convincing her that kissing without love is nothing so she shouldn’t flip). Or the whole ‘Kyohei channels Domyouji and lets goons beat him up because they have Sunako hostage if he doesn’t comply’ and then Sunako goes super-nuclear, like she always does when Kyohei is in trouble. And then Noi is laughing because they are such a couple and don’t realize it. And when Kyohei has to pretend to be Sunako’s bf because he doesn’t want to pay rent and she doesn’t want to go to spas and their notion of what a couple in love does is a huge fight to the death (AWESOME. They are meant to be together as anyone else would just run away in fear). Or when he is supposed to take her to a mushy French movie as a date and he can’t bear it, with the sappiness, and they just go to the video arcade and play violent video games instead (heeeeee, they are so similar) and she and he actually have fun. The whole thing is awesomeness.
