I have checked out the beginning of the first episode of Magic Ring (less than 10 minutes actually). The subs are nothing to write home about, but I get the gist of their conversations from it, so it's good. I am also pleased to announce that Joe Cheng and the leading lady mack on each other during opening credits something fierce. I fail to see the downside of that. (Though I am confused as to why JC is wearing a tunic).

So, my thoughts? Here they are. Joe Cheng? Looks hotter than he did in ISWAK (yes, it's possible). And wears suits! And he is a successful lawyer! Who gets into brawls! And who is viewed as a disappointment by his father! And his brother is his one link to functioning in this family (which considering his bro is about to bit it, sucks for his character but rules for me)! And he has good hair and an adorable smile! This is as far as I got, but it's plenty to keep me invested in more.

But I put it aside because I do want to finish Sang-Doo. Before I watched SD though, I finished the second episode of Smiling Pasta (click on the relevant tag to see the summary and pics). I love it. And not just because it's amazing, delicious, tongue in cheek cractastic thing. It's be cause He Qun (the male lead) is probably the sweetest, nicest leading male character I've seen in a dorama, and one of the really rare ones who it would be cool to date in RL. He is just a good guy. The scene with Xiao Shi and how she has to wear the turtle shell (because she was the slowest in thr annual school race) and he tries to get them out of making her wear it because there are a lot of people around? COOL. The thing is, he is not in love with her. He doesn't know her very well even. She is a random girl who's been thrown into his path. But he is still so nice. But the moment I really fell for him was when she puts the shell on (because he and Ah Zhe are going on hammer and tongs) and she starts wobblng off and she trips and falls and her shoes flies off into the rafters and everyone is laughing and he pushes Vincent (his PR guy) aside and ignoring everyone calling for him (or for him to stop) determinitely climbs up andgets her shoe for her and then comes back and puts it on her foot. And then he picks up her hand and walks off with her.

I love him.

The whole thing with the fact that he's had to transfer to the same college as his estranged, bad boy rocker brother. Who stole his gf but who himself was in love with a girl for whose death he blames He Qun and who is himself the object of Xiao Shi's affections *phew*. And that he is an idol singer AND the elder son of the leader of Parliament who is a disappointment to his father. And the fact that he gets 'engaged' to XS to save his reputation? And etc etc etc? I love it.

I have such a love/hate relationship with Smiling Pasta. I love He Qun for all the reasons you mentioned but his brother really grates on me. I'm totally not into that guy and god, Rita? Seriously? And the comic sound effects freaked me out a little because I tried watching this show right after I saw an episode of "Silence" which is so serious, and...yeah. I still prefer DBY as super cracktastic, but Smiling Pasta does have its own merits, despite the fact that I think Full House did a better job with the same storyline. Of course, I haven't seen more than 4 episodes of "Smiling Pasta", so perhaps angst will kick in later. (Seriously, "Smling Pasta" is on my list of dramas that I've seen that I can't believe I've seen because I am not super-excited about them. I spent last week watch it and thinking, "Wow, I think I like 'Full House' better and if I don't like it so much, why am I on episode 4 already?")

Hmm, I am neutral about Ah Zhe. I fail to see how it's He Qun's fault about the death but I can see why he'd blame him too. Rita? Must die. But I adore He Qun (seriously? How rare is it to have a male lead who is relatively issue free and just sweet?) and Xiao Si and her cool and crazy family.

I haven't gotten too far yet, but apparently there is angst later (big surprise). Agreed, FH is better, but FH=amazingness and this is a fun way to pass the time. Could never really get into DBY though mainly because by the end I wanted to choke Ah Meng.

I've seen one episode of Magic Ring, at a friend's house. Had no idea what was going on, but I'll hopefully get around to watching it someday.

Same friend of mine is currently into Smiling Pasta as well. Good to see your thoughts on it! I've been interested in it for some time, since I see all these random people talking about it. :P

Yeah, SP is sweet. It's not mindblowing or anything, but it's a great deal of fun.

Well, even if it sucks, Joe Cheng looks smoking in it, so it's not a total waste of my $$$.

Ah, so the subs are understandable? My lowe for Joe Cheng just might prompt me to buy this baby. :p

Can't wait. Am watching more tonight. The only bad thing is after this I will have no more Rain dramas :(

The subs are nothing to really adore, but they are understandable, at least enough to get the gist of, and most of the time better than the mere gist, too. So yeah, check-out-worthy...

Have you watched Orange yet? I think that's his first drama. But I haven't heard much about it.
