Hello from Tokyo!
Sep. 10th, 2006 03:20 pmAfter a horribly long flight (remember that bit in Meteor Garden where DMS was stuck flying all the way from Taiwan to NYC because he found out about Shan Cai not sleeping with Lei too late, but he then turned around and flew right back? I have only now realized how much true love that entails. My OTP would have to be on their deathbed for me to do this. And even then I would rather send a candygram. Basically, flight was eeeeeeek-worthy!) we have arrived in Tokyo.
Which I love. It has gazillion lights and ad signs and things I have never seen before and crowds crowds crowds everywhere: women in kimonos, tired looking businessmen in suits, chattery boys and girls in school uniforms, young women with fancy hair and alligator boots and young men who look like they have stepped out of the dorama, with really layered hair and sharp shirts. Mmmmm, a lot of hot men, actually (there was one especially where I kept staring and staring. If it was not for the fact that Mr. Mousie would definitely not have approved, there might have been a kidnapping :P) I have been sneakily trying to take a lot of people pictures, but hot men seem to have a sixth sense and so far I have yet to manage to take pictures of any of the guys who I thought were quite yummy. But I have a week to go! :)
We went to a temple (and the surrounding warren of shopping streets) in Asakuza, wandered around Ginza, checked out the gardens around the Imperial Palace and are now in Shibuya in one of those cool computer places with a lot of free manga to browse through, alas all in Japanese.
Oh, and
winterspel, I have not had a chance to look for any of your music stuff yet, but I did get you something you might like :) It is a fan with a really large and attractive picture of Kame on it. A different one on each side. What the shopkeeper thought of me buying it, I have no idea!
Oh, and there are very few white people, so oh boy do we stick out!
Basically, Tokyo=coolness!
And I am taking LOTS of photos.
ETA: Heeeeee, there is a magazine called "Fineboys" which I noticed while I was waiting my turn at the computer, with no one other than Kame (seems I cannot escape him) looking fine on the cover one other than Kame (seems I cannot escape him) looking fine on the cover in a dark blue coat and some kind of cravat. I have to say I really approve of a magazine named cravat. I have to say I really approve of a magazine named "Fineboys" both as a concept and on principle. Alas, this was for browsing and not for sale, but I think I have finally found a magazine for sale, but I think I have finally found a magazine worth subscribing to from overseas :P
