Anyone interested, I thought we could start our Mars watch-along on Thursday. How does it sound?

Also, anyone who hasn't seen Meteor Garden and is interested, maybe I can convince you? It's well worth checking out. Hot boys slashing their wrists and going on hunger strikes? Very hot. Hot boys fainting in girl's arms? Doubly hot. Hot boys saying 'I just want to hold on, to protect you' is...jackpot. Plus, come on, if that's not enough inducement (this mv is quite a good sampling of MG angst), I bring you the pictures of the hot boy in question (Jerry Yan playing Dao Ming Si (Doumyouji's equivalent in HYD).
























Also, some last thoughts on the Hana Yori Dango jdorama. Eeeee! Shizuka came back to Rui! I love that part (I love that part in the anime too and am sad the manga and MG didn't have it. I always want everyone to be happy (part of reason I dislike love triangles) so I was so glad for Rui). Also, everyone celebrating X-mas at the end was cute (though they made Yuki a stalker, boo. I loved that storyline in Meteor Garden. So much better), especially Rui and Shizuka blowing out the candle. And Akira dragging Sakurako's bags. And I love that Doumyouji got the cookies. Love the look on his face.


Kaede continued to be and ice bitch, but I did like her mellowing out a bit at the end. I think annoying as she finds Makino, a part of her likes her better for standing up to her. Oh, and D/T are still OTP. I loved the fact that he agreed to his mother's conditions because that way even if Makino loses he can protect her. I also love his asking her out for X-mas and then sending Rui instead because he's leaving. And Makino running to the plane and screaming out his name, and finally confessing she loves him: she starts out by enumerating his faults but then tells him she loves him and he just enfolds her into this huge hug. Eeee. And his not yelling at her about losing. Doumyouji has plenty of faults and flaws but I love that surrounded by strong women as he is (Mom and Sis) he still goes for a girl who is really strong willed and won't knuckle under (in the anime he actually blows up at Sakurako for being obedient).

Yay.

For those who are considering whether they want to watch Mars, I bring some inducement.

ETA: Here is a link to a DMS/Shan Cai MV which just makes me grin from year to year. It's from MG2 which I am staying away from as I've heard it went off the rails in the middle, but I just love seeing my poor angsty OTP so blissfully happy.

I think your icon just killed me. Btw, when you get to FS season 2, be careful. Disc four's second ep is actually the season finale. The order to watch them is is first ep of disc 4 then all three eps of disc 5 then last ep of disc 4. I have no idea why they screwed it up.

I wondered about that as the number of the episode really doesn't correspond to how I'm watching them on the discs. It's really confusing. I'm still only in season 1, so it hasn't been a problem yet.

Watching MG vids made me really want to rewatch MG (so much sheer angst. It's like a show made expressly for me) but I am rewatching Mars first.

F4 / MG opened the asian drama world for me. i got into watching taiwanese dramas, then korean then japanese. so that series is dear to my heart. :)
