[livejournal.com profile] fireball_says, was it you who mentioned Gokusen jdorama? Because I've watched the first 10 minutes on youtube and it OWNS me. Eeeeeee! So funny and cool.

Also, maybe I am so crazy that I see ships everywhere, but don't tell me that there is going to be a thing between the heroine and the class leader thug guy, Shin. Because that would be so wrong and yet so cool and sort of 'Up the Down Staircase' only with more violence. Eeeeeee!

btw, [livejournal.com profile] winterspel, pssst. Jun is way hotter in this than in HYD. I can actually now see the attractiveness :P

It was me. I love Gokusen. And I love that you love it. After I recommended it, I went back and rewatched the first couple of episodes, just to make sure, especially since you didn't seem all that impressed with Jun in HYD (which I haven't seen).

The fashion is a bit more reliable, too, if only because it's hard to mess up school uniforms and tracksuits :P

Yay, Gokusen! It's really silly, but entertaining, and I love Shin a lot. (Plus the actor overlap with HYD is fun; did you spot Rui yet?). And...when you say "don't tell me", do you actually not want to know what happens? ;-)

I am only 10-12 minutes in. Has Rui yet appeared? :)

do you actually not want to know what happens? ;-)

Are you kidding? I am ultimate spoiler ho. Tell, tell, tell.

Yes, I haven't been cringing about clothes yet (though it's early days).

And seriously, Jun is totally hot here. Eeeee!

And the show itself is too much fun.

I have no idea where he comes in. I saw Gokusen before HYD, so I didn't really notice him (and he looks pretty different). His name is Uchi, if that helps. He's one of Shin's many sidekicks.

They have a whole romantic subplot with Yankumi and an adult, but there are definite hints of something between her and Shin, and in the last episode, he says flat out that he's rivals with the other guy for her love. It's kind of funny, and nothing terribly wrong happens, as far as I recall.

Glad to know I am not on crack :) I actually wouldn't mind if something happened, so I am OK either way. :)

I'm pretty sure Uchi is the bleach blond one, by the way.

AAAHHH YES!!! Gokusen!!! thats where Jun is totally hot. HYD did convince me he was a good actor, even with the stupid hairstyle he had to sport.

Gokusen rules. :P

i also thought he was super adorable in Kimi Wa Petto. :)

Isn't the big blonde one really fat ergo not Rui actor? Unless he went on a horrifying diet :P

Will keep out watch for him :)

Yup, he is definitely hot.

i also thought he was super adorable in Kimi Wa Petto. :)

Guuuuuuh. My 'to watch' list is getting enormous. :)

No, the fat one is Kuma(i?). There's one with longer hair that's also bleached blond, and I think that's Uchi, maybe. I'm not 100% sure.

Kimi Wa Petto is WAAAY CUTE. You really can't watch it without smiling. Jun is very silly in it, which contrasts with the very serious female lead.

Ha, oh, believe I know that Jun is hot! I've seen some of his Arashi performances and wow! Both Gokusen and Kimi wa Petto are on my To Watch pile, although Kimi wa Petto is first because I actually have the whole thing, and I'm still working on acquiring all the Gokusen episodes, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] catdecember's earlier encouragement. I know roughly what the story is about because I've seen the second Gokusen series which isn't that great (aside from the fabulous eyecandy and some weeeeirrd hairstyles), but I have heard the first one is excellent.

Hmmm. No Jun icon yet. Pi will have to do. ;)

What is Kami wa Petto about? *watches as her to-watch list grows horribly unmanageable but in a good way*

Gokusen, at least the first part of it, is available on youtube, subbed, so you don't have to dl if you don't want to.

Kimi wa Petto is about a woman who finds a guy in a box outside her house, like a lost animal, so she takes him into her home as her "pet." Yeah, sounds pretty weird, huh? I think it's supposed to be a light-hearted cute dorama, and from all accounts it is pretty popular and well-liked. Other than Matsumoto Jun, the lead actress was in a Takuya Kimura drama, and I'm pretty sure I know some of the other cast members, as well. Sometimes I choose doramas both for who is in them as well as what the story is about. Most of my dorama To Watch list stars at least one Johnny, which means that at least I'm guaranteed eyecandy! :)

I don't really like watching things on youtube, so I'd much rather download. Most popular and well-known doramas are available at [livejournal.com profile] jdramas and barring that, by torrent at d-addicts or elsewhere, so I'll get to it eventually.

I did some more looking into it and I think I am going to skip it or save it for later because the concept is a bit weird to me. (Probably because of a scifi novel I read when younger, Bulichev's "Favorite" about aliens keeping humans as pets :P)

the lead actress in Kimi Wa Petto is Koyuki, who was in The Last Samurai with Tom weirdo Cruise.

and my dearies, Kimi Wa Petto, is based from the manga Tramps Like Us which i started before but never got to finish, but was absolutely cute. but then again, 90% of mangas get adapted into dramas/movies anyway, so yay for us.

I did watch a bit on youtube and wondered why she looked familiar. I think the human pet set-up is way weird though.

Koyuki was fantastic in KWP. the whole scenario is weird, but i think the Jun-Koyuki chemistry worked well.
