Majo No Jouken: eps 2-3

I finished the pilot of The Gossip Girl and it's official: I want to murder every single character in this show. It's as if someone took all those awful 09ers from Veronica Mars and made them the supposed-to-be-likeable protagonists. Ugh.
But in the news of a show which has high schoolers but doesn't want me to give up my faith in humanity, I continued with my rewatch of Majo No Jouken and got through eps 2 and 3.

She doesn't show for her engagement thing but instead goes to the beach she came with Hikaru:

And guess who shows up:

I am going to the Special Hell!

I think it's rather sad he is the only one in her life she can tell the truth...

He is pretty right.

This was cute. He pretended to swallow her ring:

Squee (yes, I have no meta)

And she tries to collect herself...

And tries to be all teacherly, telling him about his Mom.

Michi's Mom is perseptive.

He is back in his claustrophobic house.

And they are thinking of each other.

Trying and failing for normal...

Ooooh, Freudian parallels!

Cuteness:

And it all goes downhill...

He tries to speak up and it only makes it worse.

I really like her.

And now there are nasty rumors...It's interesting how all of this is pushing them together. They might have taken much longer if it wasn't for it all.

And now she tries to shut him out...She is afraid.

He finds out he won't be expelled no matter what and acts out:

And walks out of class:

He sees her with her fiance.

Gosh, they are both so young.

Once again, a person in her life snatches control from her.

She finds out Kinoshita and Hikaru got in trouble for shoplifting:

Crazy lady alert!

He is the most grown-up of the three of them and that's scary.

She throws herself into wedding planning to take her mind off Hikaru.

Michi finds out the truth...

Tutor girl breaks expensive stuff in Hikaru's house. Yikes.

Like I said, what kind of parents jumps to that conclusion first?

He is partying with some girls from his class...

And they see Michi called...

She finds him. Did I mention she is beginning to stand up for herself (she did with those schoolgirls)

He is jealous...But he also tells her some unpalatable truth...

I loved that scene...To stop his acting out via shoplifting she starts stuffing her own pockets...

And they run.

SQUEE

And then she moves away...

As Rhett Butler would have said: "A minor point at such a moment."

Yup, basically. Otherwise it's J-A-I-L.

Home again.

Seriously, Lady, you have a nasty mind!

They are thinking of each other.

Yes, she is starting to assert herself. She doesn't need everyone's good opinion any more!

Just as well as Hikaru's Mom got her off her homeroom job.

Friend sees someone called Hikaru called Michi.

She finally stands up to her father!

And of course because of his Mom's actions, Hikaru is having an awful time at school.

And he gets picked on throughout the day. It's funny because if he was someone who bragged about bagging Michi or whatever, I get the sense the guys would like him. It freaks them out because of the feelings thing, because they might be serious.

Talking to Kinoshita.

Awwww.

But she runs away.

Confronting his Mom.

So she slaps him...

Poor kid!

He sees Michi going off:

That was horrible, with the students trying to rape her.

She manages to run away and wanders into the library.

I loved this scene. Their secret 'conversation.'

I kind of like how open he is about expressing himself. No filters.

But of course she doesn't come. She just wanders the streets in a daze. My heart sort of breaks for his expectancy.

So he comes home, finally. To the creepy mother.

Who is visited by her scummy doctor-lover.

I just really like this shot.

And he is fed-up and unhappy and trapped so he runs away from home.

He calls her and tells her he is quitting and ran away:

Oh, Michi!

Her fiance followed her (he found out something) and tries to interfere.

This is just pretty.

While Hikaru waits in the rain.

Date rape will really make her like you. Yeah, fiance, brilliant!

Thankfully he stops.

And she runs out of there, and runs to Hikaru.

But can't see him anywhere. She realizes he is still there though.

She finds him inside. I have no comments about this scene because it turned my brain to mush.

So good even on rewatch!
