Yeah, first reaction was in response to the last 15 minutes, and was rather incoherent.
Here is the rest
Yes, yes, it was an excellent episode: I loved V's Tom Cruise joke, her almost calling Kendall a c--- in her Dad's office (a pun on the Music Man AND a four letter word? How much more perfect can you get?), and above all, her Lamb references to Madison (is it me, or was Lamb a lot less abrasive to Keith this ep? Could it be because the incorporation failed so now he gets to keep his job and Keith's revelations about Goody are part of the reason vote failed).
And there was Dick and his party pig (Dick is pretty pathetic lately, isn't he? But I can never view him as just a rich assholish clown, not after ATttD), and the mystery starting to connect, with some sort of nexus between Lucky and Goodman and the Mannings (though if Lucky caused the bus crash, I'll scream because he is introduced much too late for that). And the storyline with Jackie and her Dad is rather touching, and Goodman is tawdry. Though I am thinking that the female, grown-up staffer was a 'cover all bases' thing, because if he got caught with her (and it looks like he was trying to cover it up, too) that when the Goodman-as-molester accusations/insinuations come up (and he's got to be worried, with Lucky's video and all), people will find them harder to believe.
So V has an STD from VD (and yes, the VD thing will never be not funny). I really hope that it's because Duncan was steppin' out (it doesn't even have to be Kendall. He could have been doing a number of girl after his first break up with V and there would be no moral problem with it). But that's because I like to blame the Donut. The other option is Meg, of course. They made her an unwed teen mother, so I suppose they can turn her from virgin to slut too.
I am warming up to Butters (Mac seems to be a magnet for guys whose nicknames start with 'B'). If her and Beaver don't work out, they should hook up.
Wallace and Jackie bore me. Wallace is a nice guy. Jackie is (now) a nice girl. They are nice. Can I snore now? I've never been interested much in either of them. But I think RT risked entirely new levels of disinterest in their relationship when he put in their sex scene after the Logan/Veronica 'epic' scene which has all of the fandom reeling. I admit I was "Wallace/Jackie having sex? Do I care? Get back to L/V!!!!!" Though they did seem to make a big production out of it being sweet, and knowing about birds and bees, so I wonder if there is going to be a nasty twist there. But hey, even the possibility of that arouses no interest. I simply don't care.
But all of the above, while holding various degrees of interest and appeal, has been steamrolled in my mind by the juggernaught that is L/V.
The 'epic' scene at the alterna-Prom is now my favorite L/V scene ever. More so than the kiss in WoCD, even. I love that Logan keeps sneaking looks at Veronica, very furtively. That after the elevator scene he greets all his guests from the elevator group but he keeps honing in on her, and he is all expectant and just not paying attention to anyone. He is talking but his mind is elsewhere.
This whole ep, prior to it, he is wearing his heart on his sleeve and has neon signs over his head. That scene by the locker in the beginning? Pure heaven.
But right, right, back to the 'epic' scene. There are SO many reasons I love it.
1. The way Logan says 'tortured' with a grin, as if he means it yet knows how terribly cliche and overdramatic the line is.
2. Veronica trying to keep it light until she realizes that the girl who broke his heart is her. He looks at her so intensely and all of a sudden it just clicks for her and the intensity ratchets exponentially, and I realize that (as he Hannah comment indicated) she has never realized before that Logan loves her. Yes, a blind newt could tell, but V is so off-kilter when it comes to Logan, she is afraid to trust her gut instincts (and after all, she never had a very good guy radar). She didn't know it even though he told her he was in love over the summer. She probably thought it's something he tells all his gfs. But after this confession, when they are not together any more, and he pours his heart out, it finally clicks.
3. The way Logan says that the year is almost over and they won't see each other again. He is panicked and desperate.
4. He keeps demolishing her walls one by one (she is putting up weaker and weaker ones as the conversations progresses) and oh, she so wants to lean into that kiss.
5. When he touches her cheek, you see this completely physically overwhelmed reaction from her. No wonder she bolts as he is trying to kiss her. It's complete emotional overload. Most of it from his speech, but some of it from his touching her face: they'd always had crazy chemistry.
6. The devastated look on Logan's face as she bolts. In S1 she lied to him when she said she had to bolt because it got too intense and he believed her (and waited for her). How ironic that her lie is made truth here, and he doesn't know it.
And the scene in the morning? In the hotel? Utter devastation. I think RT has been hanging out with Joss too much. I think what really killed me is the very last bit, when Veronica is in the elevator with tears in her eyes and she is looking anywhere but at Logan (hipbones!!!!! Sorry) but then she raises her head and looks straight at him, tears in her eyes, face devastated. And the worst thing? She probably thought about this half the night and got to Logan's as early as was not crazy-stalkerish but if she'd waited longer, Kendall would have been gone. Because while logically, she has no grounds on which to reproach Logan: they are not a couple, not even on a break, and she rejected him, but emotionally it's a different story: she has just opened up her heart to be confronted with him morning-aftering with another woman (and a woman who was almost responsible for getting her Dad shot, though Logan doesn't know it). So she is back to believing he didn't mean what he said, he was just looking for an easy lay or he just says meaningless things, or whatever. Not 'he is beyond fucked up and he was reaching for one thing in life that's painless and meaningless and he meant every word he said.' Yeah. But it's not too bad, because:
a. The ball is now in Logan's court. This is the first time he's realized she loves him. He never knew that before (she hasn't cried over Duncan, but she has cried over Logan. Twice. Hmmmmm). And Logan, unlike Veronica, is not about avoidance. I can't see him not trying to do everything in his power to get her back, to convince her he loves her.
b. I feel horrible for Veronica, but hey, it's not anywhere near as bad as what she put Logan through end of last season. So it balances out a bit, but also, they bounced back from that, didn't they?
I have no clue how much of this they will have time to address (only two eps left after all). And if Aaron gets acquitted, I can see Logan having a lot more horrible messed-up stuff to deal with before he can get the Veronica thing straightened out. After all, he is overdue for angst, as he was angst free for the last few eps. So now we have this, and if Aaron gets acquitted, we are completely back to Logan hell.
I have already rewatched L/V scenes three times. Screaming was involved every time. I need help.
It's funny that my favorite character is the one who, when I saw the Pilot, I thought was a nasty spoiled brat who would hopefully get run over by a car, but meanwhile was amusing me with his nastiness. Heh.
