Because I am still thinking about RotS (general reaction level: arggggghhhh! Noooooo!!!!), I need something to cheer me up.

So a pic of kid-Anakin from TPM. Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Did they just pick the most adorable looking kid (he looks like a living anime toon) on purpose?

Russian novel length reaction post to RotS is coming but not this afternoon as lots of work...

hehe, of course they picked the most adorable little boy they could find on purpose! He's so sweet and innocent...it just adds to the tragedy.

Uh-huh. My college roomie had a poster for TPM which was the best movie poster ever. Little adorable Anakin. And his shadow was Vader.

I remember that poster! It was so well done. It gave me chills whenever I saw it.

TPM is my least fave SW movie (Gungans got on my nerves) but that was the Best. Movie. Poster. Ever.

My best friend and I were discussing that poster not long ago and how it was possibly one of the best we'd ever seen. It's definitely the best SW poster out there. Too bad the movie was disappointing.

I *want* that poster.

I now forgive Lucas (hee, how high and mighty of me) for PTM because (while Gungans still annoy me) I see how it sets up AotC (which I love) and more importantly, RotS...

I think Ep. I was everyone's least favorite. Which is sad, because the basic storyline is good, but George ruined it by focusing too much on the cool new technology he could use and the annoying aliens he could create. I wish he'd stuck more to the basic tale of young Anakin. And yes, that poster was awesome! :)

I'm sorry, but I can't forgive him the bombast of the twenty minute pod race that had no point other than to have a video game made out of it and show how technically advanced the company is now. There are so many other ways that Obi Wan and Anakin could have ended up together that would have been more suitable that I just shake my head at that movie.

The pod race was fun (I am a CGI slut). The Gungans OTOH...argh! But then I was never an Ewok fan, though they did remind me of hairy Hobbits...

Yup. Though I have a sneaking feeling that if I was 7 or 8, I would have worn out the DVD rewatching it :)

I also cannot forgive Jake Lloyd's atrocious acting (someone needs to have directed that kid) and the complete undermining of the "Force" philosophy that Lucas pulled.

OTOH, the Darth Maul, Qui Gonn, Obi Wan fight is probably the best in the entire series thus far in terms of choreography.

My little cousin is 8 and he has just discovered the joy of SW. He adores Ep. I. The podracing, the lightsaber duels with the oh-so-cool-looking Darth Maul, the fact that Anakin is so close to him in age. It's very cute. :)

I never was attached to the "Force" as an idea, and the midichlorians thing made sense enough to me. Same way there are genes for being faster taller etc, there are genes that make you more attuned to the Force...

Jake Lloyd? He wouldn't win any Oscars, but as far as acting in Lucas films go, he was OK....

Darth Maul, Qui Gonn, Obi Wan fight

Yeah, that was good. Though I am more partial to the Obi-Wan-Dooku-Anakin-Yoda fight myself.

Awwww.... Yup, the kid hero thing is what would have made this great for me if I was a kid.

P.S. Re: Jake Lloyd. I have to admit this could have been because he got all my "Mommy" buttons going...

This will sound funny, but recently seeing the film again through his eyes somehow made me appreciate it more. It's fun and it's light (for the most part), and Anakin still has so much hope. It provides a nice contrast for what ROTS is going to be. :)

I think I liked Obi Wan's first fight more is that Obi Wan's fighting was much more fiesty in TPM. The Yoda part of AOTC stands out, but not really Anakin and Obi Wan in my mind.

I distinctly remember when "Duel of the Fates" started and Obi Wan and Qui Gonn shuck off the cloaks the entire theater cheered. That was a memorable moment for me.

I just have a particular weakness for fighting with two swords, and Anakin does that (brielfy) while fighting Dooku. Makes me a goner.
