First off, is there some kind of cute abbreviation for Veronica/Duncan? I might not be a Veronica/Duncan shipper, but I still wouldn't want to abbreviate that ship to an STD.

The rest is behind the cut for the spoiler-phobes.

You know how I was worried that Duncan=Angel. Nope. If anyone on Buffy (and I hestitate to make the comparison for fear of the wrath of [livejournal.com profile] rawles), he is like Riley. He is attractive, nice and steady, seems like good loyal boyfriend material. He is also rather dull and doesn't seem to have much chemistry with his g/f.

This said, if I were Veronica, I'd stick with Duncan. Purely pragmatic reasons. Duncan is a Nice Guy. He is willing to give her space by wooing her slowly over the summer (Logan is not into giving people space, it seems). Whatever issues he has, he is dealing by not dealing with them and resolutely trying to get back to normal, which seems to be Veronica's preferred method of dealing with it, so they match.

He is definitely a safe choice. Logan is not. Logan IS complete and utter mush to Veronica though, which is actually interesting. Why is someone who is guarded and far from sweet turn into such an unadulterated sweetie when with Veronica? Is it what he'd be like if he had no issues? Is that his inner romantic? Is he so grateful for love and positive attention? What? Probably a mixture. It just strikes me that he is completely open and vulnerable with her while they are together, and it's such a contrast. But he is also conducting a war on the non-09ers, and he has issues in the double digits. And his way of dealing with issues is not to repress and try to get back to normal but channel them into a non-09er war. Logan is NOT a Nice Guy. Whether, like Michael from Roswell, he could be made to be under the right influence and lack of stressors is interesting (seeing his utter meltiness with Veronica, I think that's a possibility). He could probably at least be made to behave though I doubt he'd ever join the ranks of great philanthropists.

But why would anyone want to take on a reclamation project when she's already got a well-behaved boyfriend at hand? Well, Logan is funny and very sweet (to V) and very attractive and has oodles of chemistry. But Veronica doesn't strike me as a very patient "there there" type. It makes her tough, it makes her interesting, heck, it makes her attractive, but it makes her uninterested in dealing with Logan's issues. She's got plenty of her own, and being with "set fires to pools" Logan is preventing her from returning to normal (heee, just remembered a Max quote: "what's so great about normal?") If she loved him, it might be different. But I don't think she does. She is attracted to him, sure. Maybe she even was in the process of falling for him. But I don't think Veronica is in love with anyone at present. And when you have that, well-behaved Duncan definitely seems like a better choice.

Too bad I have zero interest in D/V.

OK, onto mysteries.

There are two that I am curious about.

1. Who killed the inappropriately named Felix?
2. Who made the bus crash (please, let Meg have survived, but it's unlikely).

1. Could be anyone. Most likely, he pissed someone off in the gang. Or it could be that Logan has psychopathic eps where he kills people and doesn't remember them and he really did kill Felix. That would be really unbelievable though, and very afterschool special. Maybe it's somebody I haven't thought of. Probably.

2. More important mystery: the bus. First off, why? Was someone trying to get rid of Veronica and/or Duncan and/or Meg and/or somebody else on that bus? Who were they trying to get rid of? Hopefully it wasn't Logan's rather drastic way of showing POedness at D/V. That would be a bit mass-murderer extreme. Did Veronica stumble on something big and didn't realize it? If it's Veronica who was the intended victim, the latter would make sense. The fact that they needed to do it via the bus when they just wanted to get at Veronica, would indicate they wanted to not draw attention to her (because otherwise people would dig into why she was offed). Of course, this presupposes Veronica was the intended victim. Could have been anyone. Or does someone just hate school buses on principle?

Well, to Duncan's defense, he and V were pretty dysfunctional in season 1 :) [might have been the drugs, though]

Personally, I think for me, I have a hard time rooting for LoVe (well, except that I hate the nickname) is because of the Lilly situation. You'll probably see what I mean when you watch season 1.

You mean the whole "he was boyfriend of her dead best friend for ages and then was mean to her?" Heh. That don't bother me none. On my other current show of choice, Battlestar Galactica, the most popular ship (and the one I ship as well) involves to people one of whom was engaged to the other one's brother. :P

The thing is, Duncan is nice on paper. But he is just boring me in the show (at least for now). I mean, I am just not that interested in him. Stupid criteria for a real boyfriend, but a crucial one for a fictional one.

I'd say that's a marvelous take on both Logan and Veronica and Veronica/Duncan based on one episode :)

(Which means I agree.)

I just read this spoiler, which I totally regret, regarding the bus and who died.
Warning: I am in an extremely contrary mood, so this may not be my actual opinions but rather, me being contary
Regarding Duncan/Veronica: I like them, I really do. If each pairing belonged to a seperate show, I would whole-heartedly support both of them. I figure that the best way for me to go about it is to support Weevil/Veronica, which will never happen, and just enjoy the whole Logan/Veronica/Duncan triangle. I'm actually kind of Duncan/Logan. There is a huge amount of chemistry there, and the writers know it, too. As do the actors, they address the issue.

Heee. Yes I know, you are the slasher extraordinnaire :)

See, I like D/V in theory. It's just when I saw it in the show, it kinda left me...lacking. I was "OK, it's nice. Whatever."

They went on double dates together. It's creepy!

(and that from a person who usually isn't that bothered by even fictional incest. But for some reason, in this case, it squicks me out)

the most popular ship (and the one I ship as well) involves to people one of whom was engaged to the other one's brother. :P

But that's just one person. I can deal with one person. Here it's both of them. Which in turn makes it kinda freaky to me. Soapy in a bad way.

I am confused.

In BSG, what you have is the Kara/Lee ship. Kara was engaged to Lee's brother. Here, Veronica was dating the brother of the girl who was dating Logan. That girl happened to be her best friend, but still. That doesn't seem anywhere near as weird (not that I think K/L is weird).

It just doesn't seem odd at all, especially in their rather small social circle. I've known stuff like that to happen.

I think you are just enjoying being the devil's advocate :D

They went to prom dance thing together when Logan was still with Lily and Veronica was with Duncan. Not just was Logan together with her best friend. She also dated the best friend's brother who in turn is (or used to be) Logan's best friend.

They are too close to comfort for my taste. Plus, I admit I kind of lack respect for people who are too dumb to leave their mini social circle. There are plenty of other fish in the sea. There is no excuse to not go out looking for one when you are looking for somebody new. (not that Veronica falls into that category, since she dated two other guys, outside the circle in season 1. Something that I wholeheartedly support. Doesn't mean that I want her to end up with either of them, but I think it's great that she isn't just LoganDuncaLoganDuncanLoganDuncan)

I think for me a situation like that is just too "meh" for me. On one hand it's not dramatic or despicable enough for me to serve as enjoyable angst (as opposed to "I'm in love with my enemy/former brother/a criminal/an alien!!"). On the other hand it's also enough for me not to go "Awwww, it's such a cute normal!atlast! relationship" either.

LOL...

Still don't see any ickiness or problems but I suppose it's a personal thing.

Plus, I admit I kind of lack respect for people who are too dumb to leave their mini social circle.

But why should they, if they like where they are? I don't actively go out seeking new friends most of the time, because I like the ones I have. Seems to make sense...

Friends is one thing. Romantic partners is another thing. You can still keep your friends and find your romantic partner form the outside. At least that's what I consider preferable.

Nothing wrong with falling for your best friend either, but it's a different thing to me if there has been already too much cross-pollination in the same group.

Friends from the same group falling for each other is cute the first time. After that the cute factor wears off extremely quickly for all subsequent pairings.

Oh yeah, I remember it being a pet peeve of yours (I think when we were discussing Roswell?). I guess it's something that doesn't bother me one way or another. Too many 19th century novels.
