Amazing VM ep tonight
Apr. 5th, 2006 11:10 pmEeeee. Likely my favorite of the season (I know I keep saying this lately).
So good. I will break it down by story strands, actually.
Felix's Murder
So the murder finally got solved (or the previous answer confirmed). Thumper got rid of Felix (who was loyal to Weevil) by spreading lying stories about Felix's bragging about Molly to Molly's relatives, so the Fitzpatricks gave him blessings for the murder and the deal. Makes sense.
I love that Weevil first does try to do the legal thing, get the law after Thumper. But I love even more that he doesn't wait, that after this fails, he goes after Thumper himself, and as good as murders him, by framing him so the Fitzpatricks will kill him. That intercut between the music, and Veronica watching unknowing, on TV, and Thumper's face, and Logan, who is the unknowing instrument of murder (and how interesting since Thumper tried to frame him), and then Weevil entering confession? Brilliant. One of the best endings of an ep since 2.07. And I love how Thumper's murder was orchestrated by so many people, most of them unknowingly. There is Weevil, who didn't sully his hands, but as good as killed him. There are the Fitzpatricks who tied him up for certain death. There is Woody who didn't feel like waiting to investigate why a motorcycle was inside the stadium. There is Logan who didn't know anything was out of the ordinary when he pushed the plunger that blew up the building. Lamb, who refused to do anything at first (love the bitch-fest between im and Veronica). Heck, there is even Veronica that investigated the thing. Brilliant and dark. And Weevil has just gotten somewhat darker, but I don't think this possibility was ever far from the surface or a surprise. He was a gang leader for a reason, after all.
Old flames, new flames, and angsty flames
So much shippiness in this ep. I shall start with my ship of choice, a.k.a. Logan/Veronica. This ep is shipper heaven after a very VERY long dry period. First, we have Veronica checking Logan's essay and actually *gasp* recognizing they used to date in the summer (and Logan's quip about being invited to the dance). Then we have Logan actually helping, in his snarky way, with Veronica's investigation of the Felix thing (and whoa, is it just me, or is their chemistry back with a vengeance?) Then there's their being on a stake-out and the convo about his being a bad boy and I missed their friendly fun banter. And once again, chemistry that wasn't in evidence for a LONG time, is back. And then, we get the moment that made me squeal like a little girl, at the dance. When Veronica (to prevent Logan from blowing up at Gia), asks him to dance. And they slow dance and the music is perfect and they just look at each other and they are slightly awkward and he is rather disbelieving and the whole thing is HOT.
Wallace proved to be a weak-willed boy, didn't he? Running after Jackie (who seems to be striving for Mother Teresa status lately), lying to Jane, etc. I like Wallace and I (now) like Jackie, but I don't particularly care about this ship.
And then we get Cassidy/Mac, who go from utterly adorable (with her asking him to the dance and his telling her if it sucks, they can go out later), to angsty (when they run out of the dance, and she wants him to go to his room to make out, and he is so jittery and frozen and it's like hitting a wall) to falling apart (when she pushes the topic at lunch the next afternoon and he walks off). Why is Cassidy so not eager about making out? He clearly likes Mac. Is he gay? Does he have some kind of psychological issues for some reason? Why does he flip when Mac mentions talking to Veronica? Ahhh, my sweet little ship is in the throes of doom.
Oh, and ore confirmation that poor Felix and Molly were really into re-enacting West Side Story.
Woody Goodman. Nickname: ewwwwww
Why is Woody so concerned about that video, as soon as he realizes it's not the incorporation opponents who sent it? Because that story about the gardener, and his impatience to get his hands on it, is creepy and startling.
Also, why is he interested in clearing Terrence? And is he? Is it an elaborate blind to hide his framing of the guy?
And to complete the completely creepy "something is wrong" vibe the man was giving off, either he was trying to come on to Logan in the gym scene, or I was hallucinating. Talk about ewwwwww. I know Logan's mojo is immense, but that was wrong and wrong and WRONG.
Because Logan is cool
I love that Logan took Lamb's regular parking space, as Deputy Mayor. Heeeee.
And jerking his hand off from the Bible because 'it burns.' ROFL.
So good. I will break it down by story strands, actually.

Date: 2006-04-06 03:47 am (UTC)Totally got the creepy vibe from Woody in the gym scene. My first thought was, what the fuck?
The current Mac/Cassidy situation makes me want to cry. I'm in denial over it. It never happened.

Date: 2006-04-06 03:49 am (UTC)And I thought Mac/Cassidy were cute at first but I have my own little theory about Beaver that I don't think anyone else has mentioned...well so far at least.

Date: 2006-04-06 03:51 am (UTC)and poor Mac (and Cassidy, unless he's not just really messed up but willfully evil)!
I was so worried the Jackie/Wallace/Jane think was going to play out like Yolanda/Logan/Lilly if he kept lying to Jane, so I was very glad that Wallace was at least honest about initiating the kiss in the end.

Date: 2006-04-06 04:34 am (UTC)it looked to me like he wanted badly to lean down and kiss her. It seemed like he even started to before remembering that they weren't together
Me too. The chemistry was out of the ballpark.
And Woody is beginning to out-creepify Aaron.

Date: 2006-04-06 04:35 am (UTC)Yeah, I am so ridiculously easy this way. I kept telling myself my shipping of them was over, but bam, all it takes is one chemistry-laden ep.
What's the Beaver theory?

But yes, my L/V glee overhwelms all else.

Date: 2006-04-06 05:23 am (UTC)I like your description of the Logan/Veronica scenes. They were the best part of the episode for me because I really missed those two and their amazing chemistry. I can't wait for more of it.

Date: 2006-04-06 05:25 am (UTC)And yes, can't wait to see more L/V. Sigh...

Date: 2006-04-06 05:29 am (UTC)My heart melts. And, of course, we finally get "Sway," and that look in Logan's eyes of both desire and wariness. He still loves her, he still wants her, he doesn't want to get hurt.
And, he knows he is still a "bad boy." If nothing else, I think that his treatment of Hannah, especially in the light of her defense of him to his mother, has shown him that there really are things about him he needs to change.
Though, on a humorous aspect, "Cancel that last order" was pretty funny.

Date: 2006-04-06 08:14 am (UTC)and whoa, is it just me, or is their chemistry back with a vengeance?
OMG! I have to see this NOW!

Date: 2006-04-06 10:47 am (UTC)Yeah, I'm back on the L/V ship, baby! (It feels so good to be back...)
Logan was truly hilarious in this episode, even when he wasn't even in the scene. "Maybe he's handicapped or something".
I love that Keith totally knows that Woody Goodman is lying, and keeps investigating. And, on a scale of 1 to 10, Woody's ewwww factor is 11.
I felt bad for Wallace, Jackie, and Jane, but I like Wallace best in his interactions with Veronica.
I was so upset when Cassidy and Mac broke up. I don't even think I can take the angst. Come back, my ship! You're too adorable and wonderful to sink!

Date: 2006-04-06 02:38 pm (UTC)Oh yes. Darnit, I am back to being a shipper.
And yes, his treatment of Hannah (and I am glad she got a reference tonight, as it shows people don't fall off the face of the earth) was kind of emblematic of the whole screwed up, angsty, unscrupulous package that is Logan.

Yeah, me too. All of my "I don't care if V ever ends up with anyone blah blah" has evaporated. Saaaaad. But true.
on a scale of 1 to 10, Woody's ewwww factor is 11.
He makes my skin crawl (though his cancelling of press when he found out who his intern was, was hilarious).
And yes, Cassidy and Mac are geek cuteness and I want them back. Even more, I want to figure out what on earth is wrong with the boy.

Date: 2006-04-06 08:51 pm (UTC)I was a little worried when "Sway" started with Mac and Beaver, but then we got the L/V goodness and I wasn't disappointed.
And what is wrong with Beaver? I kind of hate him now, the way he broke poor Mac's heart like that. There was no need to be so harsh.

Date: 2006-04-06 08:59 pm (UTC)And I am such a dork. I didn't realize there was a VM soundtrack and I kept wondering why people kept talking about wanting Sway for a V/L song. It was a weird unanimity of opinion. And then I realized they were going off the soundtrack.
Re: Cassidy. He is way too messed-up, the poor kid, for some reason. So I don't hate him, though I feel bad for Mac.

Date: 2006-04-06 11:15 pm (UTC)There has to be a plausible, yet solvable reason that Cassidy broke up with her like that. They must get back together.
