Yay or Nay? Shall I watch it? Will I like it? Does it have angst? And cute boys? And drama? Anything?

I hated it, so it could totally be the thing for you ;D

Have you ever heard of/seen Wonderfalls? It was cancelled very quickly, so there's only one DVD, but they had time to write a happy ending. Don't know if the main character will hit your fancy though. I liked the show a lot, very quirky. Kaylee from Firefly gueststarred :D

I vote Yay! I really enjoyed it. There is angst. And very cute boys. And drama. It does get annoying sometimes, but really as a whole I have very fond feelings for the show.

What is Wonderfalls about? If it's only one DVD it must be no more than 5 eps!

You laugh but it's totally true :P

Ooooh. Sounds good. Does it have a happy ending.

Oh, I meant just one set. I think it's 13 episodes, half a season.

Wonderfalls: Basically, girl who hears voices. Like Joan of Arcadia, but without the religious angle and without the crappy second season.

I think the big problem of Felicity was that I just hated the actress and constantly wanted to throttle Felicity. Kinda ruins the mood of the series if you hate the heroine. Why not go straight for Gilmore Girls? (my second degree cousin loves both; she loved Dawson's Creek and Roswell as well) Or is it that "series not finished" factor?

Gilmore Girls premise sounds ridiculous with the whole young mother thing. Also, it's unfinished. I made an exception for VM and BSG because I adore them, but not really interested in trying more.

Also, the premise of Felicity (no pesky children, grown up or not) and romantic and not familial drama as the center appeals to me more.

I like Keri Russell so I don't think this will be a problem. I rarely watch things for female characters anyway.

She is insane?

It depends.

What happened was JJ Abrams thought the show was going to end, so he did an episode that could be considered a series finale, and then he made 6 other episodes after that. It's about 50/50 with people liking/disliking the additional episodes. They involve time travel. I thought it was a happy ending both ways, but it was a little odd.

I have a fondness for the show because I went through college with Felicity. She was a freshman when I was and she graduated when I did. Also, I love Scott Foley. And Scott Speedman. And Jennifer Garner is in a few episodes, and Keri Russel is adorable. And I *love* Greg Grunberg.

Yes! :loves it: Actually, I need to get the DVDs and see it again. I lost it along the way.

That's what she is trying to figure out. ;D

I kinda hated the guy too.

I have seen him in a couple of things and something about him just bugs me. But I guess they are both attractive in the sorta conventional kind of way. Since I kinda disliked her and didn't care much about either guy, there really wasn't much point in me watching. I kinda got a kick out of the fact that she is like pressured to decide which guy to sleep with and then she runs off and had sex with a TOTALLY RANDOM GUY from her art class because she can't decide. I found that strangely hilarious.

And there was a random dream episode shot completely in black and white where they all of them are stuck in a (literal) box. I don't know which guy she ended up with (again, I don't even know which is which), but I read it (seriously!!) involved time travel.

Also, the premise of Felicity (no pesky children, grown up or not) and romantic and not familial drama as the center appeals to me more.

Grey's Anatomy then? Getting crazy wazoo good ratings. And Isabelle from Roswell is a side character. (I don't watch it, so I'm talking totally from the outside)

Grey's Anatomy is still running though. And I am an Izzy disliker :) And I can't watch med soaps because BFF is a surgeon who talks to me extensively about hospital realities so I'd be cracking up.

I think the Felicity guys are cute...

Ooooh, I can see my next marathon coming up!

I just love how pleased Logan looks in your icon.

Then again the basic premise for "Grey" sounds kinda unlikable (pining away for a married guy because they are both each other's great love, I understand there is quite a bit of sleeping around). I just mentioned it because it seems to be quite a fad show right now.

Darn, trying to think of some good finished/cancelled shows.

Eeeee, sounds great and I will definitely watch. This is (sort of) what I felt about Buffy. Buffy started first year of college for me :)

pining away for a married guy because they are both each other's great love,

As a relatively newly married gal, yeah, I have issues with that :P Make up your mind beforehand, dammit :P

I keep trying to remember why I hate the guy (the one on the left). It must be something I have seen him in.

I kinda wish I could tell you anything about the guys (like if either of them has an angsty backstory or something), but they were just so bland to me, I don't really remember anything.

The way I understand it Felicity chose one of them, but like a season or more later the writer changed his mind and had this whole storyline about Felicity dreaming about how things might have been if she had picked the other guy.

You know Alias is doing their last episodes now. Don't know if they will be able to pull off a believable happy ending though. It seems that they had a mid show stinker that put the Tess arc to shame :D (same author as the Felicity guy, btw)

I don't really mind the concept, but I find prolonged and needy pining very annoying. From all I heard about the main character I'd probably want to go stabbity stab on her in the matter of two episodes.

Yeah, Alias had a notorious disintegration. I've never seen an ep and even I know...

It totally seems to be a "Watch the first two seasons and then pretend that that was the ending when Syd and Vaughan had their 360 degrees kiss" :D

If you are looking for completed shows to watch, have you considered Queer as Folk? I just finished the first three seasons and I love it. It is kinda graphic sexually, but the characters are interesting, the plots are modern, and it has a great humor to it.

UK or US version?

Yeah, but it's all slash (duh :P). I just don't find the concept of boys-on-boys hot in the least (which makes me a lj minority, but there it is). Maybe it's because I can't imagine myself into the relationship, like I can with het couples: I don't do it on a conscious level of course, but I think a part of the attraction is 'if I was like X and was with Y it would be..." Can't do it with boys who only like boys. Somehow, because they don't like girls, it removes the sexiness because they are not viable in any way sexual partners (not that fictional het boys on shows are, but it's instinctive, not logical). Boys-on-girls is another matter.

call me another vote for jumping straight to Gilmore Girls. the premise actually works because the writing is so frickin' GOOD! (all hail Amy Sherman-Palladino and her endless wit.) much drama, healthy doses of angst, endless clever repartee and cute guys. besides, next year will be the final season, so you can marathon the other six and either watch next year, or wait for the dvds.

i did honestly try to like The Hair Felicity, but the total lack of acting ability on the part of Keri Russell makes it very hard. also the fact that she is the stupidest female character in existence doesn't help matters. sure there is drama and angst, but only because of her lack of brains. the only thing that held me in an oddly fascinated sort of way was that Scott Foley is a dead ringer for my, um, gosh, what would i call him? anyway, guy i snogged a lot in college. so the show left me annoyed and horny. ;)

US. My library doesn't have the UK version. I would totally watch it if they did.

I love boys on boys and I could never get into QAF. Too weird and soapy for my taste (again, could be key for "right up your alley") and they had like a monster OTP. I still laugh when I remember the fandom_wank posts around the finale where like the supporters of one pairing made voodoo dolls to express that they wanted their couple to get together in the final episode and not the other one :D Hilarious. They almost put Buffy and Angel vs Buffy and Spike to shame.

Sigh, I really wish you could get overlook your "Nikita" dislike. Not that was a drama angsty OTP.

on the US version. . .

mm, i thought so too until i watched an episode. ::guh:: two words: Brian Kinney.

i am totally not into slash, but i think the sheer gorgeous eye candy of QaF and the story sucks you in.

i'd try one disc and see what you think.
