My favorite actor: Shahrukh Khan

Today's eye candy post is of Shahrukh Khan, who is not only one of the most popular Bollywood actors, but is actually my favorite actor, period. Is he good-looking? I have no idea. Probably not, as his features are far from classically handsome. But when he is on screen, I have a hard time seeing anyone else. He hasn't had a movie in over a year (there is one coming out later this year) and it's been quite...annoying :P

If you want to check out a good SRK movie, I suggest Asoka (which a period epic), Swades (which is a brain drain story) or Dil Se (deals with terrorism). There is Veer-Zaara which is my favorite Bollywood love story and Devdas, which is mind-bogglingly beautiful. If you want something more light, Main Hoon Na is hilarious, Paheli is a colorful fairy tale, Kal Ho Na Ho is romantic and cute and set in New York. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabie Gham are fun, not to be taken too seriously, emo and were huge hits. And there is always of course Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, the longest running Bollywood movie ever, that hooked me on Bollywood.

Oh, how I miss him! And I do think he looks handsome - but that could be the case because once you've seen a movie with him and have witnessed the way he owns the screen you are unable to look at him objectively.

so I actually find him entirely the reverse of what everyone else seems to. I don't think he 'owns' the screen - it's never really jumped out at me. :\ on the other hand, I do think he's quite handsome.

Yeah, I think he is gorgeous, but I was trying to be objective. I first saw him in DDLJ and went "THIS is a superstar? What are they, blind?" And by the end of the movie I was bawling like a 10 year old and thinking he was adorable and then I saw "Asoka" and caught myself thinking "OMG. So unberably hot." So I am not sure how much it's his looks and how much the pure charisma.

I haven't seen EBDM. I heard such horrible things of it. Hmmmm. OTOH, the withdrawal is acute and I did after all suffer through Anjaam. Is EBDM worth checking out?

I think SRK actually became better looking with age. He looks better now than he did 10 years ago. Of course, it could simply be the fact that he got rid of the mullet :P

..... i think you might have lost me on the OTOH.

I group EBDM with Baadshah and Baazigar and Duplicate and thoes kinda films. Its not what you would consider a "goode" movie really, but i remember only the goode things about stuff.. so i'm not the best person to get a film review from.. heh. I kinda liked it. I think all shahrukh movies are worth seeing once. I think it had a kinda interesting plot.. especially near the beginning.. the little girl (leadinglady as a kid) was really adorable.. if you have extra time on your hands and are having srk withdrawl..and not having any expectation of it being goode... i would say, yes, check it out.

As for SRK's films along the lines of *I was young and needed the money* - yeah well there are some really nice *treasures* in there ... One of my favourite trashy movies are Koyla and Karan Arjun (so I am also looking forward to Krrish - it must be hilarious).

SRK is excellent (except in Darr which scarred me and scared me).

Last time I went shopping for Bollywood movies I got given to a DVD of his songs in an attempt to lure me back to buy more. It is excellent.
