Bollywood Beauty
Apr. 4th, 2005 01:36 pmFor those on my flist who are not familiar with it, Bollywood is the name for Indian movie industry. I simply adore Bollywood movies (which you can find in movie theaters and on-line rental places with English subtitles). They are lavish, beautiful musicals, often with happy endings. Often they are wonderfully melodramatic love stories. And they always have a bit of everything: fighting, love, comedy, tragedy, the works. And visually, they are stunning.
So here is a bunch of my favorite Bollywood pictures, beneath the cut:
Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra celebrating Holi in the upcoming Waqt:

Salman Khan and Sneha Ullal (with a LOT of back-up dancers) in the upcoming "Lucky," a Bolly star-crossed love story filmed entirely in Russia:

John Abraham and Lara Dutta as an Assasin and his Moll in Elaan:

Vidya Balan and Saif Ali Khan in the upcoming Parineeta:

Sushmita Sen as a courtesan in Kisna, a movie about a poet protecting an English woman during the Partition:

Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta in my favorite movie last year: Veer-Zaara, the story of a doomed love affair between an Indian air force pilot and a Pakistani aristocrat:

Abhishek Bachchan as an Enforcer in the gritty, harsh Yuva:

Ashwaria Rai and Ajay Devgan in the art-house Raincoat:

Madhubala as a doomed slave-girl in the newly colorized Mughal-e-Azam:

Arjun Rampal in Moksha, a movie with the neatest cinematography I've ever seen:

One of Bollywood's most famous movie couples, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, in Kabhi Khushi Kabie Gham:

The most visually amazing BW movie (Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit in Devdas):

Kareena Kapoor as a low-class hooker in Chameli

Amitabh Bachchan as an elderly patriarch separated from his wife in Baghban:

Date: 2005-04-04 08:01 pm (UTC)Nope, it's from Raincoat. It's a flashback scene when Ajay is (pretending?) to be sick and she comes in. They never got so lovey-dovey in HDDCS until the very end.

Date: 2005-04-04 08:03 pm (UTC)Btw, I love the icon. I haven't seen Shakti as am reluctant to get a whole DVD just to see SRK and Ash shake it up, but I do want to see Ishq Kamina really badly. Any clue what song compilation would have that?
Btw, any BW icons I can steal? *grovel*

Date: 2005-04-04 09:14 pm (UTC)I think with the look this pretty and a cast I like, not to mention a good plot (as I read the summary of the novel), it has every chance of being good. At least it will be pretty to look at, if nothing else.
