Oh frabjous joy! I have just found out that Marigold, a Bollywood/Hollywood cross-over musical, is coming to the theaters some time in April.

Even better, I found stills on line.

The plot involves a third-rate American actress (Ali Larter) who ends up stranded in India and is desperate for some work. Well, to have a decent role in a Bollywood production, you must know how to dance (of course) and Ali's skills are non-existent. Which is where a Bollywood choreographer (Salman Khan) enters...

I can't wait.

The pink and gold striped pants of the dancers crack me up.

Well, if they are referring to the typical Bolly number, this is pretty tasteful as far as things go :)

I SO want to see this. I find Ali Larter very appealing, and this just looks so cute.

Me want too!

Plus the thought of watching this in a 'regular' theater with people who don't know Bollywood is strangely appealing...

They are very colorful and pretty (and sometimes downright odd :))

Salman looks reeaallly dark in that first picture, lol.

It's the shading I think. Everyone looks kinda bronzed. Plus, he is wearing white...

Ooooh, I feel a Salman swoon coming on!

It should be playing mainstream theaters actually, so I am excited!

I've been wanting to see it for ages (ever since they first announced it, ages ago), and I agree. It looks cute: sort of like a cross between Bollywood and a reimagining of a 1930s musical.

That looks like fun. It probably won't ever come to cinemas here, but there are always dvds...

I'll definitely be keeping any eye out for this one - the colours look gorgeous. I wrote down the list of Bollywood recs you gave me before and am still trying to find a place in Beijng that sells them :D

It does look pretty!

I have no idea if there is much (or any) Bolly stuff in China, though.

Hm... for some reason I never got into these "crossover" type films... Well, I thought Hollywood Bollywood was cute, and liked Bend it Like Beckham, but for the most part they seem odd to me.
Also, I don't understand Salman's appeal. But I will keep an eye on this channel, in case it turns out to be good. :D

I didn't care too much for HW/BW because...too silly. BiLB was good but B&P disappointing. Still, I always get excited for the next one, because:

a. they might be good
b. gets more people into Bollywood
c. Fun to see it in a 'regular' theater

Re: Salman. I like him when he plays disturbed and intense (e.g. Tere Naam, which was IMO the best thing he's ever done).
