My latest OTP picspam
Feb. 14th, 2006 01:13 pmAfter all it's Valentine's Day. Or something. I wanted to do this anyway.
The picspam is of my latest OTP, Miaka and Tamahome from Fushigi Yuugi. They are they from different worlds. Literally. She is a modern Japanese girl and he is a warrior in an ancient-China-like world. He can't exist in her world and she can't stay in his. The bad guys are trying to kill them on a regular basis in either world, anyway. Oh, and because she is the Priestess of Suzuku their love is uber-forbidden and cannot be consummated. And you thought Buffy and Angel had it tough. Talk-about star-crossed.

Yum:

One of my favorite scenes in the anime, Tamahome being lethal and protective even in the modern, real world:

Date: 2007-01-19 06:43 pm (UTC)** cough cough ** Is it safe for 7 year olds?? I know that anime is not really suitable for the young ones, but do they do anything more then kissing? Like swearing??

Date: 2007-01-19 07:50 pm (UTC)More importantly than this (at least to me), this an anime that while starts out light, ends up being very grown up and very dark. Bad things happen to good people (including children!) and at parts of this I was sure everyone was going to die. There is torture, emotional and physical. I cried more than once. I really really don't rec it for kids.

Date: 2007-01-19 08:32 pm (UTC)If I look at my Top 10 anime series, not one of them is suitable for kids:
1. Trigun: You've seen that one, right? Violence and huge levels of angst and issues that are just simply not too interesting for kids.
2. Fushigi Yuugi: see above.
3. Full Metal Panic: Nudity and violence and the last in the series (the best, IMO) is just a heartbreaking examination of someone going to pieces. Mind you, FMP is funny and romantic and full of adventure, but degfinitely not for kids.
4. Rurouni Kenshin: Violent. Also, it's about a person seeking redemption and there are some heavily angsty scenes that...
5. Peacemaker Kurogane: This might be the most beautiful, visually, anime I've ever seen. But the violence (it's set during the Japanese civil war of the 19th century, and follows the Shinsengumi, the group the protagonist of Rurouni Kenshin used to fight ten or so years before RK opens) and the heartbreak and the way people are messed up? No way is this for kids.
6. Ouran High School Host Club: jokes about rabid fangirls into slash and twincest? Cross-dressing? etc etc etc
7. Ayashi No Ceres: It makes FY seem suitable for kids.
8. Hana Yori Dango: You saw Meteor Garden.
9. Peach Girl: Attempted rapes, backstabbing, and god knows what else.
10.RahXephon: one of the most beautiful and intelligent things I've ever seen (you might love its dreamlike, powerful, emotional scifi) but I am a grown-up and it makes my head hurt.
And the same it true for mangas I love that aren't anime: Hana Kimi (date rape, sex jokes), Saiyuki (very violent), FY: Genbu Kaiden (same thing as Fushigi Yuugi, issues wise), Wallflower (OMG the s&m), Snow Drop etc etc etc.
