I am not going to talk about Gaksital because I am still pissed off, so let's talk about something that makes me happy - namely ep 7 of Arang and the Magistrate, the twisty, spooky delight.

First, to get non-Arang/Eun Oh stuff out of the way:

* I am by now convinced that Demon Mom is reaper's sister.
* Arang was totally sent down as bait, to flush out Demon Mom. I wonder why Demon Mom wants her (and why she wants to find out what Arang wants most - does she want to offer her some sort of a trade?) and, related to that, what is Arang - we can tell more and more that she is not really human - not just coming back from the dead but also lack of body heat etc. Is she sort of a self-healing zombie?
* Eun Oh's servant is unhealthily obsessed with him. Seek therapy.
* I take it Demon Mom was eating some souls and warping others? Or just warping?
* Joo Wal - the last scene with him 'rescuing' Arang was beyond creeptastic, especially since you can see she was moved by it. Yikes. Eun Oh may be more prickly than a porcupine but he is sincere in general - Joo Wal is a serial killer who did his best to kill her twice.

On to Arang/EO. I could watch them be supernatural crime solvers for years and seasons. I wish!

How did I love the whole sequence on the cliff/cave/afterwards. I love that they both rescued each other repeatedly. I love that they bickered even on the edge of death (that's dedication) but their actions show they care about each other in direct contrast to that. Being in extremis really does bring out the truth. I loved that she was willing to jump and temporarily die (despite how terrified of it she was earlier) to save him and I love that he didn't want her to even though it would save them and she'll revive, probably because he remembers her story about how awful it is. I love that he finds the will somehow to save her from the fall or from the ghoul (and once again, his abrasive words are so against his actions - he tells the ghoul to take Arang's liver but he protects her even though half-dead and yells at her to run, even though it would mean he is left with the ghoul, and can barely walk let alone defend himself). I loved that she tried to warm him by cuddling and also thought about their first 'night' together (love the way she stares at him sleeping) and love her freak-out about whether she is really human. Love how he jokes about falling to one's death but when she falls, he screams in utter terror and tries to run to help her even though he's about dead from blood loss and only is stopped because he faints.

Guuuuh.

Yeah, well, I too would stare endlessly if Eun-oh were next to me. He's absolutely beautiful. Lee Jun Ki has such a sculpted face. I'd paint it, sculpt it, and film it from all angles. The only times I found him attractive as a man were in Time between Wolf and Dog and Fly Daddy Fly, but as an aesthetic specimen, he's endlessly attractive.

LOLOL.

I find him attractive here too (not as much as I did in TODAW where RAWR - my hormones went berserk).

Right? I usually like my men with cut shoulders and arms whereas he was totally lacking definition despite his athleticism, yet I was hummunah, hummunah, hummunah... Drool. Kay. Yum.

Can I just say that Joo Wal being all nice-nice towards Arang makes my skin crawl. Especially after ep 8. I'm getting not so nice shivers just thinking about it. LOL!

Like in the drama princess man, the director of arang abandon the great cinematography with the redOne after only six episode. The 7th episode is filmed with a bad numeric camera and the difference with the gorgeous six first episode is very strong. I don't understand why the director change the camera. The beautiful cinemagraphy is one of the best quality of this drama and now bye bye. And now hello to crappy image.

I noticed the difference but, tbh, while I love great cinematography, numeric cameras don't bother me - most of dramas are shot on them, after all.
