I really really liked Rooftop Prince but I am beyond obsessed with King 2 Hearts. I threw an off-handed comment before it aired that it seems like someone threw Goong and IRIS into a blender but that turned out to be prophetic. And somehow, incredibly, it works! Take two dramas I adore, but who couldn't be more different, and turn them into a functional whole? YES PLEASE!

The portrayal of the North is not particularly realistic but since this is AU, I am willing to accept that in this alternate Universe, this is how North Korea is.

I adore all the characters I am supposed to and am already unhealthily invested in their well-being. I even liked the kid versions of the characters, which I almost never do.

Also, this is waaaaay darker than I expected (the teasers hinted but I wasn't sure), with interesting and complicated underpinnings to it all. And I love!!!

I need to inhale and marathon all of this asap. Curses for waiting!

Oh, and Ha Ji Won, kicking the entire North and South Korean armies in the face without breaking a sweat? So beyond badass and scary and pretty much worth the price of admission right there. Also, when did LSG go from puppy to sexy? Because UNF!

This one is my pick too! Great first episode. It was a lot funnier than I expected. But dark. HJW is awesome as always, and when the hell did puppy LSG grow up? The production values are so good it felt like watching a movie not a drama. Drama Gods please hear my prayer...More of this please. And stay off the crazy train!

Yes, some great humor but underlaid with some serious darkness (dark comedy? Hmmm). Plus, the chemistry is out of this world.

I need this to stay good - at least half as good as the pilot! Because it owns me.

I haven't watched either yet but K2H would be more my style judging from the previews I've seen. I'm glad it seems to be good so far. I saw that it was almost completely subbed on Viki so I know what I'm watching tonight :o)

Is it shaping up to be another City Hunter do you think? Some action and a tense plot with lots of true feelings and a bit of humor thrown into the mix?

OMG King 2 Hearts was AWESOME. I was kind of eye rolling the whole girly girl who likes to date thing, i mean it is subversive in a way cause she's clearly a badass but still feminine but i also felt like it would have been fine if the first thing on her mind WASNT dating you know? But oh man the end where she decided to put the fear of God into Jae Ha was so fucking delicious I practically cried tears of joy. This is like playing into so many kinks of mine I cant even begin. I was really wanting to hit him in the face myself with his behavior. I really hope they dont feel like they have to dial her back after this, I fully support her beating the the respect and humility into him. In fact i encourage it.
I love watching Jae Ha though he's pretty hilarious, I cant wait to see how he grows throughout the drama. He definitely has some growing up to do.
I haven't seen rooftop prince yet but I'm going to soon enough.

It's very different from City Hunter as far as the characters are concerned but it does have the dark yet somehow funny combo. Tbh, I actually can't think of a drama it makes me think of

I actually liked that she still wanted to get married - the whole 'guy in skirts' trope is not a favorite. I think Jae Ha doesn't have that much growing up to do - he just needs to snap out of his affected brattishness which he's totally doing to act out.

Bwahahah my mind went straight into BDSM in the bathroom scene :P
