Ji Hyuk is my favorite - he is so good and unostentatious about it and clearly doesn't think he has much worth - but I love all of them. I agree, I miss Byung Hee - he really was not like any other kdrama character out there. And I started out paying no attention to Hyun Soo but I love him now - it's the combo of anger and guts with the fact that he actually seems to be the principal caretaker to his moppet sister and a really good, uncomplaining one at that.
Yes, this is a rare drama where I think any of the boys could be the main character - they are all so interesting and magnetic. And I like that their backgrounds are there because they form who they are but it's never front and center the way it would be in makjang - we know Ji Hyuk seems to come from a very dysfunctional family that has some money (who don't seem to care he lives by himself while still in high school but just want him to sign over his inheritance rights. Also, JH is so very level-headed, how bad must have things been for him to leave?), that Do Il's father is a gangster and Do Il pretty much doesn't live at home (and I think his quiet and collected demeanor is probably reaction to his father's likely opposite), that Hyun Soo's parents are in the entertainment business as pretty much people to kick around (no wonder he has so much anger bottled inside him) and he's the one who's raising his sister, but we don't really get more than dribbles. It gives the drama its delicate, real, understated tone but it also leaves me so curious and wanting more - to know the details of their backgrounds (for a lot of them, the band is their second family because their initial families are such failures).
I also would love to find out how the boys got together, too.
I agree, the whole Ji Hyuk/Soo Ah relationship seems so natural - they are good, caring people who have fallen for each other, and they progress without drama - just caring and open hearts.
