I was going to hold off watching Qing Shi Huang Fei until the subs were all done, but viki subbers seem to have ditched it halfway, so I am gorging on the already-subbed eps. Am through ep 9 and

(a) this drama is written for meeeeee!
(b) I started out wanting to stab Qi You in the face but by now I feel dreadfully sorry for him (he wins for worst drama family ever, quite a feat) and want to comfort him ~~with my body~~. I guess I am a sucker for heartless bastard who's actually a tormented woobie desperate for love trope.
(c) If I started talking about Fuya/QY OTP as the most Freudian thing ever, what with her being a dead ringer for the woman who brought him up and whom he viewed as a mother but who wanted him killed, we'd be here all night. Then there is the fact that he brought her in to seduce his brother as part of his scheming but fell for her himself. MMMMMM.
(d) Imperial Mother, you really don't know how to treat your kids. I can understand you are pissed your firstborn got taken away by the Emperor to be raised by his concubine whom he, naturally, viewed a mother. BUT. Here's a hint - if you treat him like dirt and whip him half to death, he isn't likely to love you. Also, your second son, on whom you do dote, might not be so keen if you try to poison his chosen wife. Just sayin'! Soon you are going to run out of kids.
