The whole Mt. Emei arc was pretty much designed to make me even more obsessed with Gexiao/Sanniang.



They are so frelling amazing. I've always loved Wallace Huo and Liu Shi Shi, but this just might be their favorite characters for me.



A little background - due to wuxia illness, he's poisoned and blind currently (being wuxia expert he uses other senses to substitute), and is barely holding on. But because he's so freaking awesome, he can still kill most of the opponents without trying too hard. But maybe not a whole army of them. And the abbess of Mt. Emei doesn't want a wanted fugitive to stay there and wants him to leave, straight to the pursuing unit. She is OK with Sanniang staying (Sanniang is her estranged daughter, long story).









So she lies. Yes, we have fake marriage!









Yeah, this show is obsessed with hurt/comfort. Mainly the hurt part. Probably because the only reason Gexiao is not actively suicidal is because he has a mission to help people and would consider it a sin. But he wouldn't care at all if he died, and a part of him actively revels in being in pain and hurt - it's almost as if he is punishing himself for being alive.





Abbess sticks them in jail but Sanniang breaks them out and takes him to a healing lake, which is a 'tresspassers are punished by death' sort of thing...



Most gratuitous excuse for kissing - to stop him from making noise when the Abbess is there, she kisses him when he's barely conscious...








And leaves him there to heal, stepping out to confront Mother Abbess.



Abbess tells her that what she did was punishable by death but she will overlook it and let Gexiao leave if she becomes a nun.




One problem. Having reassurance Gexiao is gone, Sanniang has no desire to become a nun and starts battling her way out.



Guess who shows up to help her fight off battle nuns (yes, this drama has battle nuns, how awesome is that?)



I ship them so hard it hurts!



OMG!!!!!









Abbess won't listen. That is what Sanniang tells her mother. Most dysfunctional family ever.



Abbess' sword is about to stab Sanniang...



When someone jumps in...



Yes! Gexiao is saving Sanniang by holding the sword blade with his bare hand.

OMG, they need to hook up so badly! He desperately needs something to live for that isn't the mission and she needs to be with someone who will be fine with being with a strong, reserved woman with trust issues.

Random note - it seems Liu Shi Shi's two latest leading men - Nicky Wu (BBJX) and Wallace Huo (ViM) are going to be in a drama together. I say, can we dispense with a heroine and have them be slashable with swords? Or maybe cast LSS and see who she has more chemistry with :P

And while we are on the topic of period drama OTPs that drive me wild, have a MV or two of Qing Chuan/Eight from Jade Palace Lock Heart, i.e. the other 'woman time-travels to Qing and gets involved with Kang Xi's sons' drama. BBJX is indubitably the better drama, not to mention more realistic, but I confess to loving JPLH more because it has a more traditional narrative (think shoujo with some romance novel stuff) and because Eight and Qing Chuan seem set to win "Mousie's favorite OTP of the year' award. I haven't been this obsessed with a couple for a long time. The fact that Yang Mi and Feng Shao Feng have ridiculously insane chemistry helps. Yes, I am one of the crazy FengMi shippers - I have no opinion on rl hookups or anything but I believe they should be ordered to star together in perpetuity. When is Legend of Tiger Amulet coming out again?

These two are so in my top three wuxia OTPs of all time! I love how messed up they are; and yet, they are so hot. Their chemistry is off the charts!

I lovelovelove them. They are so my kind of OTP. Physically they're perfect for each other as they own everyone around them with their mad martial art skillz but also they are both emotionally stunted because of past incidents in their lives and are super vulnerable when it comes to love. So they are totally fighting what they're feeling which I love. They're both actually very similar (stubborn, headstrong, courageous) but also they balance each other out - she's super impulsive and he's incredibly calculated. I want them to hookup right this minute. NOW DRAMA.
