OK, I am getting mildly annoyed by College Hottie (while feeling sorry for him) - Dan Ah may not be in love with Kang Suk but she has clearly inidcated she doesn't want you. Stop bugging her.

Love that Hye Joo is standing up more and more for herself and actually expressing herself - though since some of that expressiveness resulted in her telling Kang Suk she hates him because he took Dan Ah away from College Hottie and made him miserable - ouch. That family is effed up.

Love that Dan Ah is actually enjoying herself. I think the bizarro 'fake dating' charade is actually allowing both her and KS to come out of their shells because they can pretend it's all fake (even if KS suggested it in the first place because he was drawn to her without admitting it and needed an excuse). But the lines are getting blurrier and blurrier - he's totally getting jealous that College Hottie knows her better:



When he tease/lashes out that the reason College Hottie liks her because she gave him an opening because she's not hot and she says yes, she did give him an opening - KS' face. Yeah. Or the bit where his parents tell him about an arranged date for him in front of Dan Ah and she is not affected one bit and that pisses him off so badly. He's completely abandoned all logic when he is all "aren't you supposed to be dating me? why aren't you mad?" and she points out they are not trying to fool his parents. And then he wants her to hit him to show she cares (I am beginning to wonder if he's some sort of masochist),





And then there is the karaoke which made me lol and lol, with her horrific singing and his amusement and his trying to teach her how to dance sexily (ahahahahahaha).





Also, everything is blending in my head due to marathonning - he knows her husband died but does he know it was in a car wreck she was in as well? Because he seemed worried but puzzled as to why she freaked out when a car cut in front of them and slammed on the breaks.




I really love watching these two utterly shut-off, damaged people slowly become human. When Dan Ah told the book she keeps the pic of her dead husband in that somehow she can't look at his face today, I cheered. Because it's a tiny but crucial step on the road to letting go. And when Kang Suk acknowledged to himself that he loves to see DA smile and that he's scared because of it - that is huge too - he's actually falling for someone, for the first time ever, making himself emotionally vulnerable but also open.

I think KS knew that she was in the accident too (from his mother)...but I guess at that moment, he finally realized how bad it could affect her still. And then he put 2 & 2 together (about what College Hottie had warned him before).

What I like so much about this pairing is that KS was the one to fall for DA first. He worked so hard to have DA open up to him, and accept his love. It was truly amazing to see how hard he fell for her.

KS always compared himself to a monster, who shouldn't be capable of human feelings, let alone falling in love! Remember the shower scene lol? He built this enormous wall around the "real" him...because he felt like his duty to be the perfect son. He became cold and cruel...to play the part, and to slowly hypnotize himself that this is the way it should be.

But after meeting DA, the "real" him started to emerge, no matter how hard he tried to suppress...he wanted to reach out to love; he wanted to feel again, like a human.

Curse you! I really don't need another drama to watch (especially such a long one!) but because of your posts about FH, I've been busily trying to download the whole drama for the past couple of days. My current obsession with TPM makes me want to watch something with PSH in it while I wait for next week's episodes. I'd considered rewatching Prosecutor Princess but the promise of some new PSH angst lured me to FH.

I do not much like family dramas as a rule so I don't know if I'll be able to watch the whole thing (without fwding some scenes at least)but we'll see.

I'm about to start episode 4 as I type this. It's strange because, so far, I don't feel the urge to ffw at all. I'll probably want to later on when I want to get to the good stuff asap though. I can see some of the subplots getting old fast.

I want to see GS in all his a%%hole glory before he starts falling for her. That way the payoff will be all the sweeter. So I have to watch the early episodes as well.

It's so interesting watching FH and TPM together because GS and SY have nothing in common as characters. It's giving me whiplash. :)

I remember wondering what on earth my flisties were on when they were saying this was super shippy and angsty but now I am on ep 20 and I can totally get it. Mmmmmm. So good.

Btw, if you will end up liking this, may I rec Gloria, also by this writer? It was my second-favorite drama last year, after Chuno, and there are two otps and both are amazing.

I am really looking forward to seeing him work and fight for her - you can already tell the start of it.

And yes, in ep 22 it becomes very clear that he sees himself as a monster, hates it, but doesn't know how to break out of it. Falling for her helps him find a way.

Ehhh I've watched and loved Gloria! I only watched it for JinJin and her hot emotionally repressed love interest though. I didn't mind the other pairing but the suicidal ballerina and reformed puppy thug were not as interesting for me. And I ffwed like crazy during scenes with other characters.

I've started to ffw some scenes in FH as well but not as much as I thought I would. The whole cast is pretty interesting. There are only a couple of storylines I skip.

I loved both the OTPs in Gloria to bits but, even more surprisingly for me, I liked all the other storylines. Usually, with family dramas, even ones I love like FH or Gisaeng, there are some storylines I skip.
