Since I am on a relaxing beach vacation, I am not in the mood to watch anything angsty or dark. So I've been watching or rewatching some of my lighter favorites. Which means I am continuing with my watch of My Girlfriend is a Gumiho, a drama I feel no urge to marathon since I know the ending, but which I always adore when I return to.

It's funny, I think Gumiho might be my biggest case of drama crow. Sure, there were plenty of dramas whose promos made me think they would be horrible and they turned out be be wonderful, but Gumiho is the only drama where I started to actually watch the drama, watched a couple of eps, loathed it and dumped it. I only went back a year later because flisties kept pushing and then I couldn't believe what on earth was wrong with me the first time - I fell so madly in love with it (I do think that like all Hong Sisters dramas benefit from marathonning - for most of them, beginning eps are set-ups). Anyway, I love it so much and I cannot get used to how Lee Seung Gi pulls the same trick here he did in Brilliant Legacy - I find him utterly unattractive in the early, 'he's a wimp' parts, and then, as he grows up and matures and shows what a beautiful heart and soul he really does have, I find him utterly and completely gorgeous. And Shin Min Ah is, as always, perfection.

Anyway, have this scene, after she reverted to Gumiho form and came after the evil secondary girl (long story) and he stops her by pretty much being awesome and loving her. Ahhhhhh....

It's interesting, Hong Sisters did four dramas I love (Hong Gil Dong, My Girl, Delightful Girl Chunhyang, My Girlfriend is a Gumiho), one I started out loving but ended up having issues with (You're Beautiful) and two that leave me indifferent (Fantasy Couple and Best Love). I have learned my lesson though - next time a drama of theirs airs, wait and binge and marathon.
