Heeeeee.

Excellent, excellent day today.

1. I picked up my copy of The Kapoors, the book about the most famous Bollywood family and it is super-super awesome for facts like:

a. Indira Gandhi wanted to marry Rajiv off to Raj Kapoor's daughter (he fell for Sonia while in college so it fell through)
b. Prithviraj was UBER hot. seriously, hottest Kapoor ever as photos prove. considering my first glimpses of him were as an old, rotund man in Mughal-e-Azam and Awaara, it was a life changing shock. In fact, he was so hot that the reason he got to be a star (he was an extra who stood in line every day) was because a female star saw him in a line-up and thought he was so hot he should be the lead in her next film.
c. Shashi Kapoor + Jennifer Kendal FTW. Seriously, their story is so filmi, complete with inter-culture young love, unforgiving parents, poverty (he couldn't afford to buy books for her!), and angst. So so so awesome. I love Shashi even more now. Oh, and Shammi was their go-between. And he is the one who dragged Shashi out of his depression after Jennifer's death. Mmmm. Awesome.
d. Speaking of Shammi Kapoor. Heeee! His wife was an illiterate South Indian actress older than him. And he totally adored her. Yay. And she died of small-pox. :( And he is an internet geek.
e. Rishi Kapoor's wedding to Neetu went on for almost three weeks and they invited thousands of people and so the venue was a golf course!
f. Raj Kapoor was kinda a bastard. But I still love his movies the most.

2. I bought tons of volumes of Kimi Wa Petto manga. I love it to bits. Actually, I think I will try to rewatch the KwP drama shortly, with the extra knowledge and understanding I gained from the manga (those thought baloons!) Because I do adore the manga so, and I was exhausted when I continued with KwP drama so I will give it another try.

3. Sapuri. Seriously, how are there people in this world that do not like Sapuri? I mean, even Mr. Mousie, who likes dramas the way I do dirt pies, is interested in this one and is sort of watching it. I am five episodes in and seriously, it is the most delightful, clever, pitch-perfect thing ever. I now start watching it in the morning because I know I will be in a good mood for the rest of the day. And I love all the characters (yes, even Ogiwara, who I really like now, and yes, even married lady) but Minami and especially Yuya are the favorites. The bit when Yuya is so excited because he got that singer's autograph but comes in and sees Ogiwara and Minami together and you can tell just from his face (there is no dialogue) of how meaningless this prior giddiness became for him, how the almost innocently childish joy is squashed by this adult emotion in him is...EEEE. And I love that when he tells the short-haired girl he doesn't like Minami, and she asks 'realy?' he replies 'No, it's a lie.' *meeeeeep* Yuya, you are awesome.

4. Mr. Mousie expressed an interest in Blackpool too, so it shall be spousal bonding time tonight :)

ETA: OMG, the curry bit in Sapuri? It's ridiculous but I was getting misty-eyed when Yuya was presenting his idea. I was so anxious for the others not to shoot it down, to like it. Sapuri, what are you doing to me?

Sapuri gush

I have just finished the sixth episode of Sapuri and it is official:

I am utterly, helplessly in love.

This is, now, my second favorite jdrama ever, after Pride (I think it would take an act of God to displace Pride from the top of the list) and somewhere in my Top 5 dramas overall.

This is amazing.

I am in love with all the 'secondary' characters: the creative director, such a ungrownup despite his years and positition. The common-sense OL he has an affair with. His sadly sharp-eyed 10 year old daughter (he is divorced), Ogiwara, who I now think is totally awesome and confused about who he wants and what to do, and is just...guuuh. The wonderful, short-haired OL (blanking on the name) who likes Yuya a bit and is just a steady friend (but I loved her moment of vulnerability with Yuya moving to awkwardly comfort her). And the tertiary office characters.

Minami must be one of my favorite heroines and I have decided that Yuya is in the running for my favorite drama character ever.

So good. This would also probably be an awesome intro drama as it has a lot of 'other' customs for those unfamiliar with them.

Now, dinner and Blackpool.

Spinny vineyard kiss!!!!!!

Spinny vineyard kiss!!!!!!

I literally started making audible noises. Half-whimpery/half-squealing ones. Not even as much as when Yuya kissed Minami (so tentatively *thud*) but when, once he pulled away, she leaned forward and kissed him. And then there was mutual kissing.

OMG OMG OMG OMG

But you know, I have so utterly lost it, I was actually crying a little during right before the kiss. Before (as awesome as the kissing was) what really got me was Yuya's jumbled confession to Minami before. That he likes her, probably from the first time they met and he knows that age-wise and socially they don't match etc.

And OMG! He spent the whole night working! At that vineyard. Because they told him they'd give him a bottle of vine from Minami's year of birth (1977) in exchange. OMG. And he tells her he wanted her to have that.

I died a little.

And I love how she looks at him, and sees the grime and bruises and a cut or two that he got in working at a present for her and OMG the way he looks at her, so heart-breakingly uncertain and so heart-breakingly open.

It's funny, because I've gotten to such an irrational stage of Yuya love that when Watanabe was telling him Minami will never want him, except maybe for sex, because he is way below her league and that she doesn't even see him as a man, I wanted to claw at the screen, even though she genuinely believed it and she likes Yuya herself. Because nobody hurts Yuya and lives! Gosh, it's been a long time since I've watched Tatta Hitotsu No Koi, I've forgotten how expressive Kame is.

Also, I sort of adore Ogiwara now, finally utterly open with Minami. In another drama, I'd totally ship them, because he is awesome, but I am sorry, nothing trumps Yuya love.

[livejournal.com profile] winterspel has an amazing reaction post to the above, including a transcript of the vineyard scene. Go read. It's here.

I know I am totally spamming but I can't help it.

Because...SAPURI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought I loved ep 7 but 8 is just...another thing entirely.

*meep*

Yuya is shining like a new penny because Minami likes him back. It is...seriously. I am flailing. I love the little things, like when he tells Watanabe he can't reciprcate because there is someone he likes and that person like him too, and he is literally laughing with happiness, a little, at the later part of the statement, as if he can't believe it. And he is running to work. And OMG, when he asks Minami if he can call her Minami instead of Fujii-san and then starts saying, sing-songy, Mi-nami. EEEEEE! And then he almost leaves but comes back and goes 'Mi-nami?' and she goes 'what?' and he leans down and whispers into her ear 'I love you' and rushes off.

EEEEEEE!
