I finished Season 1 of Dark Angel

dangermousieOMG! Sooooo good. The season finale had me screaming. I loved the ep before that, though, where Logan and Max finally acknowledge their feelings and have their anniversary (after she tells him about her in heat thing that she couldn't control) and they start kissing and he wants to hold back to make sure it's not her "in heat" DNA and she tells him it's not Manticore, it's all her and then...Zack interrupts with worst timing ever and they try to take out Tinga and then decide to take on Manticore. And we get the season finale which is just...so full of goodness.
We have Lydecker showing some humanity.
We have the theater of pain that is Max and Logan, and she's finally brought him up to the Space Needle, and I want to hug my poor OTP. And then she goes off to battle, telling him she'd kiss him but she has to keep her head clear.
And then we have that amazing fake-out where you think Max has beaten the younger version of herself and they all escape and they are in a bar partying with Jam Pony people and then Max and Logan go back to his place and they make love and it's beautiful and I am feeling so happy and then Logan looks at her and there is blood on her chest and it turns out to have been Max's dying stream of consciousness because the younger self shot her. And Logan runs to the scene and holds her and she tries to tell him that she loves him because she's never said it before and he tells her it can wait and then she dies and he just sobs and sobs and Lydecker has to hit him on the head to drag him away.
And then we have Zack, wounded, captured, and strapped to a gurney, watching the medics try to bring back Max and they say they can't and so Renfro just wants to harvest her organs and Zack manages to break free and holds Renfro as a hostage and tells the docs to hix Max and they have there are no donors and she can only have an X-5 heart, and I go "no, don't" and he puts a gun to his head and tells them they have a donor and shoots himself. Oh. My. God. How does Max live with something like that?
And then Max waking up and Renfro makes her listen to Zack's heart inside her. And Logan is by himself on the Space Needle, saying that he needs to believe Max is alive. So amazingly good.

Date: 2005-11-20 11:59 pm (UTC)He comes back in season 2 and it's beautiful, angst-laden and very heart-breaking. I think I'll re-watch the episode and write an Original Character (probably not a Mary Sue :) for him. He really needs some happiness in his life!!!!
A lot of people don't like season 2 (because of the Freak of the Weak) but I loved it - for Alec, for Zack pain and for general all round wackiness :)
Can I say that you are so lucky to have season 2 there by your side? I was in agony at the end of season 1. For Max, for Logan and mostly becuase I couldn't believe they had 'killed off' Zack......... I was a wreck :) The fact that you get to watch season 2 straight away is so good!
OK going now. Sorry to spam. I love this show. :) It's one of those weird unloved shows ... like Witchblade that almost no one knows about or likes.

I used to like it quite a lot, despite the fact that I resented it when it first came on, because the concept was vaguely similar to some original fiction I had been working on for years and years.

I am SO not made for season hiatii. I was hyperventlating even with S2 right here. And you should have seen me at the end of S2 Farscape.

Which is so weird to me. I mean, I haven't seen Witchblade, but DA has angst, and dystopia, and hotness, so what's not to like?

Oh yes, please. I'd totally read it. I just love the whole cold demeanor caring actions duality thing he has (the hotness and competence don't hurt either). He spends the whole of first season telling Max "blah blah blah emotional bonds weaken" but all he does the whole time is protect his "siblings" regardless of his own safety or life, which is the ultimate expression of love whatever his words say.
