Fuurin Kazan - yay or nay

Still on my period drama binge, I saw this amazing teaser for the first half of the 50-ep taiga (i.e. Japanese period drama) Fuurin Kazan which is set in the 16th century.
It looks wonderful and, shockingly, the main character actually looks (a) adult (b) fed. (Yes, I have issues with jdrama idols).
But while I am very familiar with period kdramas and cdramas, my exposure to taigas is close to nil. The only one I have ever watched was Yoshitsune, when I was in the throes of my Takki obsession. I liked it (though the video quality for my copy was pretty inferior which rather interfered with the fun) but I remember finding the pace on the slow side. I have no idea how representative Yoshitsune is of taigas though.
So, those of you more familiar with taigas - is this something you think I might like?
