Telugu movies and Bollywood chicklit
Apr. 15th, 2010 09:51 pmAwww, man! I've forgotten that Telugu movies, just like the Bollywood ones, sucker you in with the cute and then before you know it - whaaaaam, angst!

If you picked E, congratulations - you are thinking like Arya's secondary guy. Somewhere there is a kdrama weeping for him.
And I still have an hour-and-a-half to go! Apparently the hero (who must have the masochism complex the size of Nevada) is going to spend a good chunk of it trying to help heroine to marriage of her dreams with this creep. I understand martyrdom is appealing, but maybe you should mention in passing that her intended is a manipulative homicidal maniac? She might appreciate knowing that little fact.
In other Indian movie-related news, you know what is better than a fun chicklit book? A fun chicklit book set in Bollywood! Today, I found such a paragon on amazonby typing Bollywood into a Kindle search and checking out every book that popped up, obsessively at random.
It's Bollywood Confidential by Sonia Singh. Our heroine, Raveena, is Indian by descent but she has never really been to India, having been born in the US. Raveena has been trying to achieve success in Hollywood for a while but though she occasionally scores small roles, as you can imagine roles for actresses of her ethnicity aren't exactly thick on the ground. So when an offer comes from a Bollywood producer (who had seen her in a sexy Japanese commercial), an offer of a starring role no less, Raveena packs her bags and flies to Mumbai. Everything is not as she has expected - take a case of some culture shock, add in her worries over her success in a medium she is unfamiliar with, and the unwelcome feelings she is beginning to develop for her costar, the cool and uninterested superstar Siddharth (I am trying very hard not to picture Telugu star Siddharth in the role as I am one of 5 women who does not get his appeal - too boyish), and you got one delicious bit of fluff.
MMMMM.
