While i can't quite recall who DG reminds me of (AND I HAD IT, I KNOW I DID!), TH is seriously like some skinnier version of Sakaguchi Kenji. Just thought you should know that lol. XD

Also, your picspams always make me drool over DG. I think if he did anything dressed in that get up i'd drool over it. XD

YES! But I've only seen the first two eps.
I plan on marathoning the rest of the eps on viikii on Wednesday.

Also Tae Ha and Dae Gil can give me as many hero swaggers in one episode as they want idgaf cos this is clearly the best kdrama since Mawang. Well written, impeccably shot and characters who have layers to them and that's what I'm getting from the first two eps (and your picspams).

Yeah, so far, 8 eps in, it's totally amazing.

Actually, I love the Mawang comparison because, despite the different stories etc, it also has two very complex protagonists at complete odds with each other and yet you can't help but root for them both.

That's what I love about it. They've both got flaws and they've both experienced some awful things. It would be so easy to make them in to fictional cliches but they come off as very real and human. Also I just love the contrast between the two.

I love Tae Ha but Dae Gil is so fascinating as a character. He was a completely different person 10 years ago than he is today. And the change makes sense.

The two DGs are barely recognizable as the same person. While TH, despite his slavery and other horrors is at base the same - I think DG was more broken by his trauma than TH was by his which is pretty interesting seeing that, IMO, TH's was worse.

CW is not a good person but yes - I feel horrible for him. He is as much a slave (to the Minister) as any slaves we see.

And ooooh, the scene where Minister was 'I told you to call me Father' after he basically used him as a thing? UGHUGHUGH.

The Minister has to die a terrible death from Tae Ha's sword!!! I also wonder if his daughter's illness has something to do with her father doing something to her when she was a child. She seems like a decent human being and very afraid of the father.

The Minister is awful.

So far he's turned CW into a killer zombie, had TH enslaved and tortured (and now hunted), told DG if he doesn't bring back TH in a month he's dead, is plotting a slave rebellion as some sort of a really complex power grab etc etc.

I HATE HIM.

I don't think he did anything to his daughter though - I think she was born that way - palsy, maybe? Though he could have done something to the mother when she was in the womb which made her like that.

I feel bad for the daughter. And no wonder CW is repulsed - not only does he not strike me as super-patient, but he associates her with his bondage to her father.

I think so. I think he was also much younger. All the stuff that happened to DG happened 10 yrs ago when he was in his early 20s and he basically had nothing left, not even structure.

But while TH lost his wife and child 10 yrs ago, he still had his generalship and his duty to his prince and his army structure and I think that helped him function. And he was only enslaved 2 yrs ago so he was much older then.
