I have a ridiculous amount of love for the part where they take the family china hostage. The Drood books also feature what may be the only version of Jack the Ripper as anything but a monaster the good guys are hunting that I can tolerate.
Uhm...I always recommend people read the Deathstalker series (first series...second is good too, but not pertinent for this) before reading the second book, just so one scene with Giles and the matriarch can be properly appreciated, but I suppose it's a bit late for that. The Deathstalker men, indicdentally, are fabulous at overcoming what the average American would consider to be an Unfortunate name.
It's also fun to see Green be rather merciless to the James Bond character type.
I really need to get the third book, though it may be easier to just wait for the paperback at this point.
