And if you want a better CLAMP offering, go with Magic Knights Rayearth (which I've been going on about), since it's a bit more FY-esque. Their best work is X, but not sure you'd like that one.
I think the Doctor likes Rose an awful lot, but I think he knows that it just doesn't have a good chance of working since he's pretty much an immortal and she's not. He'll just lose her in the long run and he's lost so much. He's alone because he has to be. Why the heck do I always go for the tortured loners?
