I don't know what'a wrong with me. I almost never like bad guys in fiction. You know girls swooning for the antagonists in TV shows or books? That is not me. I go for the good-hearted, clean-cut guy helping old ladies across the street.

Yet the character in East of Eden I am currently most fixated on (with the exception of the lead) is Myung Hun.

Heeelp!

There is no doubt Myung Hun is not a good person. There are so many things he does which are wrong, and (if the spoilers I read are true), at least one thing that is unforgivable.

But - he is so fascinating. The actor (whoever he is) is just so incredibly intense that when he is on screen I get glued to my computer. And of course I can't help but get interested in the posessive, one-sided, unhealthy love he has for Ji Hyun. It's not a good relationship at all, but it's so good to watch. It's literally crazed and I don't think he can live without her, but his growing up in the psychotic household led to him dealing with this emotion in a completely abnormal way.

It's just - he does something horrible and I want to stab him in the face, and then a minute later he breaks down with Ji Hyun and I just want to give him a hug and take him away from his creepy family.

And of course there is the fact that he is not really the son of the evil bad guy but of the Union leader, and was switched at birth, and so all his scenes where he is so horrible to his birth mother and is all 'stop accusing my father' are very ironic and I can't wait to find out what happens when he learns the truth. You know, it's just as well they were switched, because Dong Wook is smarter and more determined and if he was brought up by ruthless bad guy would be even more effective.

Plus, he is not hard on the eyes.

Also, I just got to the scene where Dong Chul was forced to kidnap Grace or else bad guys were going to hurt the pregnant wife of his friend (and he was on his knees beaten and begging) and then he 'kidnapped' Grace (she went willingly) and she thought it was for money and she was so hurt and telling him he should die...What is wrong with me? Why am I more fixated on characters when they are desperate and hurt?. Seriously, I ship DC/Grace so much. OMG, the look in his eyes when he sees she used to cut herself. And the dance scene. *dies*

And the chemistry between them is insane actually. And then she demands to know if she is loveable and guys with guns are making them separate and he is trying to save her at the risk of his life and she repeats her question and he nods. OMGOMG. You know, when he is pushed to the wall and messed-up, he is exactly like his younger self.

MH and JH in all their dysfunctional glory.

DC is forced to kidnap Grace and does so.

She shows him her wrist scars.

She really has no self-preservation.

Oh, how I loved this scene! "Promise me, if we escape, you are going to fall in love with me." Mmmmm.
