Some more Harry Potter thoughts

dangermousieI found it rather sad that Harry himself never had that perfect day. He spent half of his Felix Felices potion on getting the info out of Slughorn and gave the rest to his friends so they will be safe. I found it rather sad. I hope he gets to have his perfect day after Voldie is defeated.
Also, Harry doesn't do well in Occlumency because he is straightforward. It's an extention fo his personality. Due to mental and emotional scarring, Harry is rather reserved, but he is straightforward and simple in his head. But look at the masters of Occlumency: Snape and Dumbledore. Dumbledore seems to be a person who never really fully drops the mask with anyone, because he's never found someone with the same goals and ability (Harry has the same goals but is not on the same wizarding level and someone like Slughorn is very capable but obviously doesn't share the worldview). And Snape? He is a very complex and secretive guy, layers on layers on layers. Concealing his thoughts and compartmentalizing is how he functions, anyway.
However, Harry's straightforwardness is a plus in many ways. All he wants is to kill Voldemort and get on with his life. However Voldemort wants a whol bunch of things: immortality, affirmation, power, even his days at Hogwarts back. And I think this singlemindedness will help Harry.
And another reason he likes Ginny: she is straightforward and doesn't play "girl mind games" the way Cho did, what with indirections and hints. He has enough drama and ambiguity in the rest of his life. And of course the rest of the girls like him for the legend "the Boy who Lived, Voldie-fighter, whatever." Ginny fell for the Harry who was always hanging around the house. And after all, the latter is what Harry really is, not Romilda's status symbol or Cho's Cedric-displacement.
