Guess who got a severe allergic reaction to the antibiotic I was given for my strep and ended up in the emergency room? This gets better and better!

They pumped me full of counteracting drugs, did a bunch of other things and finally released me. Apparently, after years of having no problems with it, I have developed an allergy to penicillin derivatives - take that, Dr. Jin!!! (actually, if I am lucky, I am allergic only to this particular derivative - I guess I'll find out. In any event, there are plenty of antibiotics not derived from penicillin).

Baby Mousie had strep too but she is not allergic and her medicines are working super well, so she is back to normal, asleep at home with Mr Mousie watching her while I gallivant to such exciting places as the ER ;)

Grrrr, why can't I be allergic to star fruit or biltong or Yerba matte - all things you rarely encounter and of no utility.

How are you even managing to type this? Either sign you're feeling (slightly) better or that frustrated.

Developing new allergies isn't all that uncommon though. My mother's suddenly allergic to a bunch of food, and I'm now allergic to too much sunlight, really fun when in Korea. :)

Glad to hear baby Mousie's okay though, and hope the drugs finally work for you too. What a weekend tho...

I get severe sun rash and all what you get here is SPF 30 for allergic skin. 50 is for normal skin only.

Doesn't work for me even though I lather myself in sun cream. I took some antihistamines the first few times but not any more. So it's long sleeves and/or ice packs when I get home. On the upside(?) it's only on the arms, or I'd have to live like a vampire. :)

Antihistamines and sun together work? There is a big warning on my pills "Stay out of direct sun". I'm also used to long sleeves in summer. For the legs fortunately there are tights. I'm using silver sleeves at my armes.
Looks funny when I'm biking. Long pants, long gloves, silver sleeves and and sun hat :D.

My sister is allergic to them too. Looks awfull with all the swelling and rash.

I'm allergic to so many things but classic medication always works fine with me. My body just don't like all that organic stuff. My lips get Lolo Ferrari when I use organic lipstick -_- but works fine with chemical bombs like Clinique or Biotherm.

Yikes! I'm allergic to a couple of antibiotics, but so far it's never ended up as something stopping taking them and popping some Benadryl for the hives couldn't ameliorate. Hope you feel better soon.
