Shanghai Bund: feeding the obsession with the prettiest credits ever (and a bit on BOF)

You know how I was obsessed with Shanghai Bund, or more specifically, getting my hands on it.

Well, due to the amazingness of [livejournal.com profile] vierran45, I have gotten my hands on the subbed first ep.

And it's official: it just might be the prettiest drama I have ever seen.

I haven't gotten much past credits because I was too busy capping like mad: I love the sepia tones and filters and selective colors.

And of course, the gorgeousness of Huang Xiaoming and Sun Li and 1930s outfits.

How could you resist a story about doomed love and the Mob and revenge?

Seriously. If you could, just check out these caps from the credits - I dare you not to want to watch!

(Yes, there is h/c in the credits itself. Thank you, China).

*grrr, fast motion is so hard to cap*

I am also watching Boys Over Flowers ep 18 and so far my thoughts are as follows:

1. Why Jandi doesn't go for the utterly amazing, caring, gorgeous, and fun Ji Hoo is a mystery known only to God. Not to mention they are writing them as canon anyway.

2. Woo Bin and Yi Jung = most awesome slash otp ever.

3. At the rate Yi Jung is putting liquor away, he is going to become an alcoholic. An alcoholic who likes to imitate Ghost.

4. Heeee! They even gave Woo Bin random angst. That is how you know it's a kdrama.

5. I need to know who the writer for this is so I can avoid his/her dramas in the future. Anyone who managed to turn the canon nazi hardcore Makino/Dom shipper that I am into someone bored by D/M and shipping the uncanon Rui/Makino is doing it very very wrong.

6. My irritation with BOF is especially strong because filmi-girl and I have been watching Meteor Garden and there the whole OTP, Rui, fiancee etc stuff is handled so infinitely better.

I keep hoping Taiseng will pick it up for DVD distribution - they do a lot of historicals and come on, they did Men and Legends and that wasn't anywhere near as popular. *crosses toes*

I'm trying to BT episode one now, but I don't think it will work. I'm at 2.2% for the last hour. Taiseng is great in a way and they also bother me in that they always seem to pick the oddest things to put on DVD. Lots of older films and shows I've never heard of. But, they did put out ROCH and Love at First Fight (with English subtitles that, yeah, can be a bit spotty, but are still good) so I forgive them for putting out films from the 70s and yet forgetting about things I want to watch. They do have an email, so maybe you could email and ask about SB?

If you can't torrent it, the super awesome [livejournal.com profile] vierran45 uploaded first ep on MU here (http://dangermousie.livejournal.com/1475176.html?thread=16199528#t16199528).

ooooh, what is Taeseng's email - I totally will!

Thank you! I downloaded it and will save for later. I'm currently trying to get episode two, but there are no seeders. :( I've been at .1% for two hours. Hopefully, [livejournal.com profile] vierran45 is having better luck.

They have a whole page about contacting them here. Email is: vidinfo@taiseng.com for info about movies or comments. Marketing Department contact: vidinfo@taiseng.com. They also have a phone number and a snail mail address.

I do hope something happens with them and the show. Because, I got some info from one of the members of the group that was subbing the series. And it seems that the person who was in charge of the project has been MIA for a while.

I wish someone had started uploading it directly to a com somewhere.

Episode 2 does look rather hopeless. Yesterday I couldn't get it to start at all and now I'm at 0.1% with 608 kb downloaded :P...

But episodes 3 & 4 are much more promising, since I'm already well over 90% in both (92.9% and 96.6% respectively). I'm also seeding episode 1 in case someone still wants it through d-addicts. Especially after [livejournal.com profile] dangermousie's posts about it... :D

EEEEEEE! *is excited*

[identity profile] walkwithheroes.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
For episode 2, I've been at 3.4% for 12 hours. For episode three, I've been at 96.9% for the last two hours, but it is seeding.

[identity profile] walkwithheroes.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
It seems to me anyway, that people don't seed/watch mainland or Hong Kong dramas, because after a week there are never seeders. :(

[identity profile] vierran45.livejournal.com 2009-03-11 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
I've managed to progress from 0.1 to 4.8% on episode 2 today, so I'm feeling optimistic that I will get all of it at some point. It just might take a while :).

And since they are going so slowly, I've got torrents on the rest of the episodes going on as well and actually managed to get the entire episode 4 earlier. Episode 3 is still at 97%, 5 at 76%, 6 at 19.4%, 7 at 22%, and 8 at 0.1%.

[identity profile] walkwithheroes.livejournal.com 2009-03-11 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
You're doing better than me. I'm stuck for both episodes. (4.7% for ep 2 and 96.9 for ep 3). It's been that way for ep 3 for hours. Ep 2 is moving, though I think you have something to do with that. Seems like your seeding/downloading is going well. I'll keep seeding/downloading for a while, too.

Thanks for the contact info - I am going to email them! *crosses fingers, toes and eyes*
